So who watched the Emmy Awards last night? Were there any surprises for you? Anybody win who you wanted to win?
I thought Josh Grobin was amazing running through 30 television theme songs. The Ricky Gervais gig with Steve Carell was hilarious! Don Rickles was pretty good too.
I was surprised to learn that Laurence Fishburn is replacing Grissom on CSI. I don't know how I feel about that. I guess time will tell. (Yes, I did a search and found that it was mentioned in a previous discussion that I had missed originally).
I am happy that The Amazing Race won yet again for best reality show. It has won every year the category has been on the Awards. As for best game/reality show host - Jeff Probst won. As much as I like him, I think Tom Bergeron and Howie Mandel are more entertaining.
As usual, being in Canada, there were shows that I had never even heard of. Are they shown only on US Cable like HBO? Like Damages... never heard of it. It was 3 or 4 years of watching The Sopranos win before Canadian television picked up the series.
Year after year I am continually surprised that shows like Law & Order and CSI aren't in the running (sure, the probably won special effects awards in last week's arts presentations
) but I really think these shows are deserving of nominations and I am disappointed every year when shows I have never even heard of are nominated instead of these excellent shows.
What do you think? Did you enjoy last night's show? And how about that Jimmy Kimmel, eh?

You know what, I don't think they showed animated shows awards last night. Maybe they did those when they did the arts awards last week. They did the best guest actor and actress in a comedy series at the arts part of the ceremonies last week so it's possible that is when they did the prime time cartoons. You'll have to do a search. Surely ET Online will have all the results.

Hello patgalca.
Yes, I did see the Emmys and it's always frustrating for me that we no longer have HBO. They have such cutting edge shows and usually they are the best ones, but I just don't want to pay the cable bill the extra money to get it. We used to have HBO 5 years ago before we moved and we really didn't watch the other channels much. I mean, they just push the envelope on all of their series, and it shows. As long as HBO is producing TV shows, there's not gonna be hardly any "slots" left for shows produced on the other channels, that's for sure.
I had learned that Laurence Fishburne was replacing William Petersen and I just can't imagine that. I love Petersen's character so much. I'm gonna miss him.
Yes, Josh Groban was fantastic, wasn't he? I didn't realize he could change his voice as much as he did.
Overall, I enjoyed the show. It was very entertaining. Oh, and I love Jimmy Kimmel.
