Can TV stars really influence the vote?

Last night at the Emmy's Tina Fey said the following about Palin "I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5, so if anyone could help me be done playing her on Nov. 5, that would be good for me," Fey said, adding that she was totally resistant in acknowledging her uncanny physical resemblance to Palin until her young daughter turned on the TV and teased "that's mummy." Could a comment like that affect a voters decision?

It won't for me..Ironic that you mention this, because my daughter said somethign about a physical feature on one of the candidates and she thought that would influence people in their vote and I thought that is just crazy, are we going to vote for a President or Mr./Ms. America?????? I am voting for what they stand for, not their looks..

I bet a lot of people vote that way. Of course in the last two elections neither candidate was a "pretty" choice.

yes they do among the not so discerning people!! dear sedel1027, all over the globe the politicians have used them for swinging a little votes , a small percentage to pull down the heavy weights of the opposition .and have at times found the positive results just because of the simple reason that the people at large wish their favorite man/ woman to be at the important place. and at times the personality so selected has failed to deliver the desired result!!

I don't particularly think anyone "wanted" her to make the comment, she just did. Often it does work against a candidate. When Obama was first running Oprah seemed to back him and that turned off a lot of folks. Regardless, neither of them is a particularly good choice.

First of all I didn't even watch the Emmys...was working in front of my computer....but I couldn't care less who says what, or who endorses who. For instance, while it was still the battle between Obama and Clinton, Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama...just on that principle alone head me for the hills and away from him as I can't stand the whole Kennedy family in principle....Now with Clinton out of it I guess if I were to back anyone it would now be Obama...I definitely don't care for McCain and Palin gives me the creeps..I sure hope that just because he did choose a woman as his VP running mate those who were Clinton supporters don't flock to vote for them...If he had to choose a woman, I think there must have been better candidates to choose from. Another for instance...Chuck Norris had early on endorsed Palin..I happen to be an old Norris fan but just because Norris endorsed him didn't change my mind...Bottom line though..I'm not happy with any of the candidates..Obama or McCain
