I have a cloth made for cleaning glasses that I use to wipe my camera lenses. And my camera has a self-cleaning sensor. And that's the only type of cleaning I do! I don't think it really needs any other cleaning than that... I don't let it get dirty!

The best advice to cleaning the mirror of a SLR (digital or otherwise is "do not do it". Front surfaced mirrors are virtually impossible to clean without damaging them; the surfaces of lenses are a bit safer (a bit) and sensors usually are covered by a surface layer that can be carefully brushed or blown clean, but even that is pretty dicey.
If you have to do something and can't get onto a professional, read my article on lens (and filter) cleaning first: http://www.qassia.com/clean-up-your-acti-mean-lens
