New yogurt reviews

Well, since I can't have corn starch or modified food starch, I have a hard time finding yogurts in the normal grocery stores. So, on Sunday we went to Central Market for something - I can't really remember WHY we went there - I think in part because it was on the way back from the downtown library. So, we hit the dairy area and I stopped because they had all these different yogurt brands/flavors. So, because I seem to be having some post surgical digestive problems I decided to check them out. Well, ALL of the ones I looked at were corn starch free! I picked up different brands/flavors and had one recommended to me by an employee (they do call themselves food geeks after all.) The one that the employee recommended was made by "Greek Gods" and was honey flavored - I had that yesterday - and it was YUMMY. Today I'm trying "Rachel's" brand it is "Calm" with plum honey lavender. I can taste the plum and it is sweet and I see the lavender tho I can't really taste it. All of these are also probiotics with live cultures. I give both of these a big thumbs up! I'll be eating more as the week goes by - so I may be adding more yogurt reviews to this one!

Sounds excellent. We don't have a Central Market in my driving distance area. Not sure where there would even be one. Haven't heard of those yogurts, but I wish they were here. Some might be in our organic section. But then we probably have yougurts you don't. My favorite yogurt is mixed berry. I love it. So have fun with your yogurts and enjoy.

Well, Central Market is HEB's attempt to go upscale and organic - kind of compete with Whole Foods and other upscale markets that used to exist. I rather doubt they have too many of them outside of Texas. (Please correct me if I'm wrong folks!) http://www.centralmarket.com/cm/index.jsp

Well, as I said - I can't eat most of the ones at the regular grocery stores, so finding these - oh - one is chocolate flavored, looking forward to that one!

My roomie says Mango tastes rather like peach - so if you substitute, that might be your flavor choice. There was a mango flavor in these I found - don't remember the brand. Since I had a bad allergic reaction to a peach once, I've been rather put off by peaches since.

Now you got my mouth watering for some natural/organic yogurt, Elic. Never been to a health or natural store before but I'm thinking it's finally time to find one and discover their lil 'secrets'.

I've been in and out of Whole Foods since shortly after Whole Foods opened here. I think they have actually less selection then they used to have, but I have to say that I didn't used to buy yogurt so maybe I'm mistaken.

I've never had much of a chance to get into yogurt because by the time they came out with the main brands after my allergies were discovered.

I did not know there was cornstarch in yogurt. I just checked the yogurt in my fridge... the no name one has "modified" cornstarch, the Astro Balkan-style doesn't (it's sweetened with honey, too).
