Do have issues with Ebay?

I have been selling on Ebay now for about 3 years. The problem is that I find that when I sell an item that I don't even make much of a profit. And sometimes it cost me more to sell an item then I even receive for payment. I am about ready to quit for good! They should not have such outrageous fees. I mean , what does it take to make any money on there?

I used to sell a lot in ebay philippines. Previously there were no fees involve. But currently there are fees already involved and paypal is also available now.
My account is inactive and yet I kept on receiving and invoice. Lately, received a reminder that I need to settle the amount of USD 20 something otherwise my account will be suspended. So as to keep my account and feeback, I just paid it painfully.
Very unlucky!

Yeah the fees are just horrible! Ebay gives you fees and so does PayPal just to use them. Some Ebay makes a fortune twice! Because Ebay also owns and operates PayPal.

Though high fees, I still like ebay. More people in the Philippines are now using that so there is a high probability that the item you are selling gets sold.
I would probably start with my used clothing.

Oh great idea. From the village where I live, we have to pay fees to the association when we hold garage sale. I dont know how much though. I will check that out.

eBay's policies are forcing more and more of the small sellers off of their site. The fees are outrageous and they really want everyone doing fixed listings (and the Final Value Fees are off the wall!)
My hubby is selling off some stuff and he has been forced to list with a higher opening bid to ensure he isn't giving items away and losing money. I think that's what you have to do if you are selling on eBay now. List your item for what you are comfortable selling it for. If you want a minimum of $4.99 for an item, then that should be your opening bid. That way you are not disappointed when it sells and you know you can cover your eBay & Paypal fees. My hubby's shipping price is basically what the shipping costs, with delivery confirmation.
eBay would like sellers to list items with free shipping since they chased away many buyers and sellers. They think the sellers should make buying on eBay a pleasant experience by not having shipping/handling fees. You notice they don't make selling on eBay a more pleasant experience by offering no listing, FVF and Paypal fee days?
Personally, I don't care that eBay has run their business into the ground. Once hubby is finished selling all of his stuff, then I'll only be a bargain shopper on eBay, knowing full well that one day in the not so distant future, eBay will no longer exist the way we knew it.
Cover yourself when you are selling, make sure you understand the cost of shipping and all the fees involved, so you can make a little something on every eBay listing. Good Luck!

Yeah, I am pretty sure what I have done this week was to give away 3 pairs of $ 60 jeans away. I put them up for bid on Sunday and there are only two days left on them. I offered all 3 of them with no shipping and a low starting bid of .01 . All of them are still under $3 ! There are many watchers but it seems to me like what is going to happen is that someone will take the bid at the very last minute and up with basically a free item! I am done after this except for like what you said being a bargain shopper.

I've been either selling/buying for nearly 8 years now. Lets just say Ebay ain't what it used to be. It pretty much sucks now. With the jacked up prices just to sell stuff, and with people ripping others off and the whole star system. Ebay pretty much sucks now. I rarely buy anything or even sell anything there anymore.

Maybe if tons of people would stop selling for like a couple of weeks they would lower their fees. They made it sound better for us when they lowered their listing price but all they did was raised their commision fees. Like we would not notice what they had done. I understand that they should have to charge a little but they have to be making out with a fortune.

I heard that some people's accounts are hacked and this is a very bad news.
you're right the fees kill and some sellers are willing to lose profit just for the sake of winning competition so I basically only make profit with combined shipping, if it's not combined for sure I don't get anything

I have never used the combined shipping . I don't think that I will either. I think that I am going to cancel my account or just not try selling on there anymore. All it has brought to me is a big major loss. I have bought some very good items through them though.

I currently sell on ebay too and I enjoy it. I am not making a big profit but I enjoy it and I do make a little money. The fees are a little high, but ebay is working to make it a better place. There are several changes taking place and I think overall it is a good thing.

I guess that I have not heard of any new and better changes for Ebay. Now I do have to admit that I do have fun on there but my fun is buying and not selling. I think that maybe I will have to increase my sells there to achieve more sells, if that makes any sense. But I have seen many on Ebay with the different colored stars that seem to make a lot more money on there. maybe it will just take me a little more time and more stars.

I have sold on ebay for about 4 years and I encounter the smae problem. The shipping is outrageous anymore. One thing I did was closed my store which was costing me an extra 15-20 dollars a month and I just sell with no store front. It takes a lot of researching and a lot of time to keep up with the hot selling items on there. I don't fool with it as much as I used to because I couldn't really see that much profit. Once in a while I'll stumble upon a real seller but that's about it! Good Luck !

Yeah, I even tried to drop sale. but the problem with that is that you still do not make any profit and you just end up paying more for your membership fees then you do making any kind of money at all. I tried selling thing with a starting bid of 0.01 and with free shipping. All that has gotten me was giving away a free item. I think that after this week when my items are done I will stop Ebay all together.

That is why I'm not using ebay to sell things. I'm stuck with interest forums because I have no fees there. I have a game to sell, and I tried to find someone in person to buy it before I decide to sell on ebay ^^"
I tried Polish online auctions for awhile, fees are lower a little - ebay is last resort.
