I have used different kinds of linux distro but now i have settled for ubuntu since it is free and good for educational purposes. I like Mandriva's Boot loading menu. Fedora has a nice desktop interface.

I love Linux. For desktops i would prefer PclinuxOs and LinuxMint, for servers my choice is Redhat Enterprise Linux.

I'm not a big fan of Linux but I've used it a bit in the past. I have fedora 8 installed on my laptop. I think Linux is great in the sense that it is very secure and does not get any viruses. I also like the multiple desktops/workspaces feature. They also have great desktop effects. The only thing with Linux is, if you are not familiar with their system, you will easily get lost.

I am currently using Ubuntu Hardy Heron LTS and so far I'm lovin' it because there's what you call freedom. All the software for Ubuntu is for free so you don't need to worry on licenses that you have experienced with Windows. Give it a try, I'm just sure you will not be turning your back over to Windows.

I prefer Fedora 9 for my home computer and RHEL 5.0 at my office.
