Are you currently taking in vitamins or other food supplements?

Me and my husband are currently taking in Stresstabs as multivitamins. My kids are taking zinc supplement as recommended by their pediatrician. What are your current vitamins and why are you taking them in? I would like to get some opinions since I am concerned if we should buy additional vitamins. Our current food intake does not come in too many varieties so I think we are lacking some needed nutrients.

If what my physician says is true, many people are lacking in nutrients. He's a firm believer that many of the foods we eat no longer have the nutrients in them that the packages claim. Chemicals, pesticides, etc have helped to remove much of the vitamins and the handling process our food goes through doesn't help either. I do take a multi vitamin each day and each morning I add an organic banana to my SmartStart cereal, with organic milk. In the afternoon I have an organic apple as a snack and we try to eat a salad each night with dinner. I've noticed that since we have begun to switch our fruit and veggies to organic (when possible) that my energy level has increased. It is very hard to buy organic foods all the time (and expensive), but I now read the labels on everything I'm buying and have cut out items that contain certain chemicals. The one thing I have to say about organic fruit... the fruit is full of flavor! Regular apples just seemed to taste very bland. They were juicy and crisp, but the taste was... well there wasn't a great deal of flavor. But an organic apple is completely different. Full of flavor, very juicy and now I look forward to my afternoon snack and I really enjoy my apple. My hubby says this is how apples used to taste when he was a kid and now he eats an apple each day too.

Wow, talk about healthy eating! What is the difference of an organic fruit from a regular fruit and how would you know that it is an organic fruit? Do you buy them on health stores such as Health Options? I was there for quite a few times but I hadn't seen fresh fruits inside, just healthy chips and healthy drinks and they are quite expensive too.

fruits - fruits, veg, health
I do not take vitamins. We give multivitamin tonic to our daughters. But usually we take fruits ensuring to get all the minerals required for the body. We keep on changing our menu at home or if go outside. Fruits are a better source for many minerals and it is a natural food. They are enough if we do not have any particular deficiency of vitamins.

Yes, I agree with you. I think fruits were really created to supplement all our needs when it comes to vitamins. But sometimes, there are places where there is not enough variety of fruit that you can eat. Or budget is not enough to buy a wide range of ingredients for many types of meals. Although we can't reason out money to offer healthy food on our own tables, there are really times that we need supplements. But I respect your opinion as it really depends on each one's situation. Thanks a lot for sharing!

We dont take any vitamin supplements, maybe we should do,but we rely on the diet that we have to provide the vitamins and minerals that we need to keep our bodies healthy.I have often looked in the health food stores and have seen many types of vitamins and miners in many different forms, capsules, tablets and liquids.I have little knowledge of what vitamin is good for which ailment, maybe I need to ask a herbalist, but I shall stay as I am for the present and try to keep our daily food intake as good as I possibly can.
