The federal government isn't quite so sure anymore. A North Carolina town agree to "go digital" before everyone else and they FCC received almost 2,000 complaints from viewers.
More than half of those complaints came from viewers who had problems viewing channels. 538 of those complainants were due to lack of signal in their area..
That may not seem like a lot for a town of about 70,000 people, but consider that most folks have cable & satellite and wouldn't be affected by any change.
The FCC is estimating that at 15% of the TV viewing market will be plagued by problems after the conversion.

I always wonder what they will do during emergencies. Those small weather TV/radios don't pick up digital.
Do you support the analog to digital switch? Are you worried about your TV not working?
Side note: did you know that analog signals travel further than digital. So just because you can get a channel with your rabbit ears, doesn't mean you will still receive the signal after the switch over.

Nope I don't support it..It reminds of these game system the kids play..When we could finally afford a gaming system, it became obsolete and so my kids could only play the old games, because any new games they wanted to play, we had to go out and spend over $200.00 for another system and I thought that was ridiculous..Now with TV going digital, makes me wonder, if you are going digital, that now you have to buy this or that to get even a local station..
And that really sucks,
that I may not be able to geet certain stations because the signal will be weaker..I can't afford cable or satellite, so whenever we get a new tv, we have to use the "rabbit ears"..
Oh well, maybe the internet will become our new "tv" now because I would rather have internet then TV and yeah, I know that I will be behind in watching shows, but I can't do anything about that..

I don't' know what some folks are going to do. I know you can get those $40 off coupons, but I don't know how much a box is going to cost.
We are lucky that every time we did cut down our budget, we could always trim our cable back to basic which runs about $10 a month.

I think it's a shame that the government thinks they have to do this. What about us who have no cable in our towns and rely on our antennas. Yes, I know we can get 'dish', but not everybody can afford that extra $50 plus dollars a month luxury. If you think about it, the government is forcing us to do this and regular people have never been asked their opinion on it at all. When we had those storms last week, I could have gotten local channels for weather updates, and neighbors with dish couldn't because the storms interferred with their signals!
Also, this will be a huge boost to the economy (not ours, but the retailers): many people will have to purchase a whole new tv that will accomodate this, and then there's the adaptors that the government is supporting the sale of. I just think it's a money making scheme more than anything that is claimed. At a time when our economy is shaky and people have less to spend because of other rising prices (oil, food, gas etc) our government is forcing us to shell out more bucks for something that isn't an absolute necessity! You can tell the people who make and support this have the bucks to do this, and don't even think about those who can't afford to change to a new system on a whim. I think it stinks as it couldn't have come at a worse time in our economy!!! I thought the gov't was here to help solve problems, not create new ones!
