I read with interest on ABC News's website about how Suzanne Somers maintains her youthful appearance. At 61 she does look stunning, but I question her methods. She swears by her regime of(according to most doctors), unproven and potentially dangerous hormones. Now, she is not the first celebrity that I know of who has been willing to go to such lengths to stay beautiful and youthful. I remember reading a similar story about Tina Turner quite a few years ago who admitted to being injected regularly with sheep hormones! How far would you go to preserve your youthful looks? Does the phrase "grow old gracefully" fly in the face of such extreme measures?

Other than coloring my hair and using lotions with sunscreen and sometimes using make-up, that is about as far as I go. Even if I had the money, I would probably use it more towards a better protection in a lotion than to have anything injected into me, that is just scary..And though at times I wonder if I would get a face lilft, especially after a bad nights sleep and I get this horrible wrinkly over my eye, I don't think I would actully go through with it..I think growing old gracefully is the way to go, but the industry has always made it hard on women,. And now men are probably starting to feel the effect with that "just for men" hari color..

I do believe that men are growing more vain with each passing day, carmelanirel!Maybe it's because I remember when men liked to be well-groomed, but they didn't cross a certain line. I have been asked why I don't color my hair and my answer is simply that I avoid the use of chemicals as much as possible. Those things are very bad for your health.

Yeah, I know, but I look so old when I don't color..I don't use them often though, like right now I have a good 3 inches of root showing and getting ready to color again.. There are also alternatives to chemicals and I had a site that had articles about using certain plants and food to color your hair..I will have to ask about that, because if I can find a good natural source to cover my gray, that would be wonderful..

Mmmmmmm...don't think I would allow myself to be injected with animal harmones. I am all in favor of taking care of your health, eating right, exercising and even taking vitamins and supplements. Beyond that, I have no problem with growing old gracefully. I think it is probably miserable to obsess over your appearance and always be in search of the fountain of youth. Our bodies were meant to wear out at some point.

as well as they both look especially ms. turner, where does she get all that energy ? if they had another face lift they wouldn't have any skin left on their feet.my ex ,though we are still great friends after 30 years is only 57 but looks 67,must be that florida sun i guess, where others it must be the gene's.a few wrinkles here or there show's life on life's term's. putting hormone's in one's body just isn't, oh what's the word, the right thing to do,putting part's of animal's in your face or other parts.i like it when actor's or actress's get older and play different roles according to their age it show's character and range of knowledge of life. but your right, she is still deffinitly hot.

Alot of persons will go through the extreme for youthfulness. But for me I admire ladies who are old and graceful. Our Opposition Leader Portia is 62 and I am telling you she doesn't look it. Her looks is much younger, she said her daily diet is veggies and fish. I have noticed that alot of persons who eat less meat and does healthy lifestyle tends to look very young for their age. I think that these actress need to adopt this life style. I am always amazed of Nickie in Young and Restless sometimes you can see the age and another you have to wonder if it is the same person you are looking at. They need to stop injecting themselves because it is not healthy. For me I prefer to have my old age than to have an artifical skin.

It is true, kerriannc, that a diet rich in fish and fresh vegetables can be very beneficial to ones health but sometimes we just can't afford to eat as healthily as we would like. Natural beauty is much more desirable than achieving it by artificial means.

I'll wear every wrinkle I get with pride. The only thing I do is color my hair. Just because I don't like my natural mousey color. But other than that I don't do anything to try and hide my age. I'm 49, a mother of one and a grandmother of two, and thrilled to have gotten this far. LOL I guess I am lucky enough so far that my skin hasn't aged too bad yet. I avoid too much sun, don't smoke or drink and try to eat healthy. These things aren't done for vanity, but just because its a lifestyle I prefer. Plastic surgery or injections to me are just a waste of time and money. Why try to be something we aren't?

I would probably use some face cream or something like that but I definitely wouldn't inject anything into my body, especially my face. I saw her on television (Suzanne) the other day and she said we can live to be 120 or something like that and still be fit and beautiful. Although that sounds good, I'm not sure it's possible for the majority of the population.

That goal might be within reach for the very wealthy, MrsRich, but I agree that I would not risk injecting anything into my body to stay young.
