I have often been told that I should write a story about my life. I have atarted several times, but some memories are just too painful for me and I find myself scrapping it each time. I have also been told that I should write an advice column. I think I could do well with this idea. I do want to write a book some day, but now is not the time for me.

I am an independant housekeeper, on the way to expanding my business. I am also an article writer on Associated Content. Most importantly, I am a wife and mother. I love to read Stephen King novels, as well as true and inspiring stories. If I can read a book and it makes me really feel the emotion, or can make me shed tears, it is a good book to me.

i love reading. but then when i started to become so busy for my career it's been a while now since i've read. the stories i like reading most are fiction. and i so love sidney sheldon! out of his 18 books i have read 12 already. 5 more to go! i'm still planning to read the remaining novels but i still don't have enough time lately. anyway, i have been planning of writing a story which is fictional but it seems that i lack creativity in writhing along with my imaginations. what i ended up doing is writing anything under the sun. some are short stories & poems derived from the frustrations in my life, failures, happy & sad moments. as i've stated from my previous posts, i was able to compose these & wrote it in 2 regular notebooks. i don't want it to be published, but what i usually do is to read it from time to time to remind me of what i've been through & to look forward into beautiful things that is happening my way.

I actually write short stories, but not often. I will not try to get the publish because there fear of being told there not good would make me stop writing and i like it to much. So basically i write stories and only share them with my friends. Even though one of my friends keeps trying to get me to submit them to magazines.

The thing is..I don't take criticism well at all. If someone said they did not like my work i would be devastated.

hey phoenix star, nice to know u write short stories.....However it would be really nice if u send it to some magazine....criticism is hard to accept but is good for your growth.....Also opinions are subjective...wat does it matter if a few ppl think ur story is not nice, they are just a part of the world ...they are not the world right;-)

It's one of my dreams when I was little to become an author one day, but later I realize it's not as easy as it seems. But I never gave up since I tried to practice writing - on my own for the most part. In recent years, I write more fan fictions, applying some plots I thought of over the years to those stories. I completed a bizairre mystery/ crime story for once in my life ('cause I have the habit of straying away from my original topic or start another one thus not really finishing), so that has encourage me to go back to finish some other stories. I just finished another one today. So maybe if I keep writing, maybe I will think about it again? But it will be hard since originality plays a major role nowadays, considering there are so many authors around right now and they all have their style that makes them stand out.

As of me, I do think of writing a book or novel inspired by my life, but do not want to become a writer by profession, as if the critics hate you, then your life is simply ruined. Moreover, many of my favorite authors like Chetan Bhagat, Robin Sharma, etc. are not writer by profession. They practice another profession, instead they just write and publish for their hobby, and of course, some money. I think it is a better idea to be a part-time writer and publish books since you have a guaranteed source of income. Finally, I do think of publishing a book, but never think of being a full-time writer. Cheers! AJ Rox.
