There is a battle happening in California to not only protect marriage and families but the protect religious freedoms and to fight an abuse of powers by the California Supreme Court. It is vital that if you live in California you show up at the polls and cast your vote. Please think of the future of this country and of families and Vote YES on Proposition 8. Prop * will add an amendment to the California constitution which will define marriage as being between one man and one woman and therefore preserve the traditional marriage and family. Vote YES on Proposition 8!

"Traditional marraige" was a property exchange in which the bride was the property. "Traditionally" a woman would be promised to a man's family from the time she was a child. She would then marry the son when she came of age, 14 or 15, and would be sent to the home of the groom's family to help with the housework and give him babies. This was done after an exchange of a dowry or livestock or both. Traditional marraige was broken down about a hundred years ago when people started marrying for love. The only group of people who cannot legally marry an adult of their choosing are gay people. Since gay most major scientific studies are showing that human sexuality is biological, to not allow gay people to marry a person of their choosing is discrimination. You are in favor of and are encouraging people to vote for writing discrimination into a constitution which should work against discrimination. This proposition will do NOTHING for religious freedom. Religion has nothing to do with this discriminatory measure.

27 states have already added this to their state constitution, that's over half. This does take away religious freedom. This will mean that my religion can no longer deny marrying gay people without a lawsuit. That is wrong. If you choose to not allow that in our religious buildings we should not be sued.

Random, you have been lied to. NO CHURCH will EVER BE FORCED to perform a marraige ceremony for anyone!!!! This is about legal recognition. Religion has nothing to do with it.

yes, well, people don't understand that religion, INCLUDING RELIGIOUS CEREMONIES SUCH AS MARRAIGE, don't belong in the government. Maybe we could bring up the fact that abortion will always be legal and there's nothing he can do about that either... I quite like when the conservatives start preaching about people who don't practice religious values are going to hell. Because all I have to say is "it will always be legal for me to do whta I do, and there's nothing you can do to change that." = D

Question - how does gay marriage prohibit you from practicing your religion?
