Ok, be warned today when I checked my emails I had one from Paypal saying I had to verify my account as someone had been trying to access it, when I clicked on the link my security thing came up saying 'this website could be fraudlant' well along those lines, so I went into my paypal account and emailed them, they replied within the hour and asked me to forward the whole email to a special paypal address, I did as they asked abnd tonight when I checked my email I had one back from Paypal saying yes it had been a dodgy email and someone was phishing for my personal info!!! I am so pleased I went with my gut feeling of contacting Paypal or else I could have been in trouble, the thing was it didn't look that dodgy, just it didn't have any logos on. So all of you out there be warned!!!

mychattime, Paypal always starts by calling you by name. The dodgy ones say something like, Dear Paypal Member, then goes into all the other stuff.
That is one of the ways you can tell whether or not it is legitimate. Did they send you a list telling you the differences?

No they haven't sent me a list, I will bear that in mind for the future about whether they call me by my name or not. Thanks for your response

I've gotten phishing emails like that before. When you get emails from PayPal or another website like that, always remember to forward the email to the website's security/phishing email address (in case of PayPal, spoof@paypal.com). As you know, they'll let you know if the email is a phishing email or not. If it does turn out to be one, they'll work on disable the sites that the email links to. That way, you not only warn PayPal, but they'll get rid of the website which in turn will help protect others.
