How do you view Boom Boxes?

Boom boxes annoy me to no end! I hate to be driving down the road and have all my windows up, trying to talk to someone or even listening to the radio and have a car pull up beside me with the music on so high it rattles your ear drums.
We live a long way off the main road. But, lately, we have cars driving by here with their music so loud we hear it in the back of our house and it can rattle the glass panes, I kid you not! One just went by and I could have told you what they were playing, if I had been into that kind of music. Do these people not understand they not only are offending the people in the wake of the loud noise, but they are also ruining their own hearing? It will be too late when that hearing begins to go after they have abused their ears for years. My husband's hearing was harmed when he was in the service, serving on the flight line and the big helicopters were leaving. He wore a helmet and ear gear to keep most of the noise out, but it has a way of reaching that inner ear anyway.
We lived in a city in Tennessee where the noise level was low and it was against the law to be running around with those boom boxes blasting away. We sat in the parking lot of WalMart one day and saw a policeman pull over a young person for violating the law. I wish it would come to where I live, but of course, I'm in the country, so it probably will never happen. All we have to look forward to is that person growing up, and moving away, or perhaps realizing he doesn't have to have the music playing so loud.
What do you think about the loud noise? Do you know someone who abuses the noise level around you? Is there a law in your state against blasting music?

Oh yes, I wish the same like you. They should be fined for disrupting the peace.
I used to live in an apartment and I am not kidding. My windows rattle and I had to sleep in the living room most nights because the homes were so close to each other that my bedroom window is only a few inches a way from the back door of the other person. The music was on day and night til late hours. Then on holidays it was horrible even more and dancing and drinking etc.
It really bugs me to see that they do not appreciate what great hearing they have.
I am in the process of getting my daughter's hearing aide evaluation next week.
The hearing aide will cost us (not paid by insurance) $6500- $8500/ a pair. it is suspected that her hearing loss is a medical condition she was born with. So I get really irritated when I hear and see others abuse and neglect what they have while others could only wish for one.
If only laws will prevent them and give them tickets, that be nice huh... Loud music can be a driving hazard too because those around them cannot hear the police, ambulance and fire truck siren.

I certain agree with you. We used to never have the problem around here. But it's beginning to be that you see it everywhere, even in the mall parking lots. I could understand it in Nashville, but not around here. I think the teenagers think it is funny. I don't know how they can stand to have the music up so high. I think we need to pray for headaches to all the offenders.
Perhaps, if it happened enough in succession, they would realize it was from the loud noise they subject themselves to continually.

That happens a lot around here, and it really bothers me to no end. It didn't so much when I was younger, but the older I get, the more annoyed I become over other people's music. It doesn't matter if I like the music or not.. usually it's the bass that is so loud and horrible. I don't see why these people seem to think that the whole world wants to hear their music.

Yes, it's the loudness plus the bass. I remember when our kids were home. I would tell the kids to turn the music off when we went to bed. The slightest noise would keep me awake. Our daughter had this one song she'd listen to on her stereo that had lots of bass. She could turn it down almost completely, and with both our doors closed, I could still hear the bass! When I would get up and go in her room, she could not believe that we could hear it with it so low. I have GOOD hearing.

Well I do hate that also. But I dont mind boom boxes in general infact I have a boom box lol. Even though I never use it anymore but I never walked on the street listining to a boombox like that I just used it in my own house. But I dont think there is a law about blasting the music way up even though there should be because its really annoying.
