Do you use the same pen names or do you have different ones?

How many sites do you write for? Do you use the same pen names for all, or do you use different ones for different sites? I have written a few articles in Helium and Shvoong under the same pen name. Now I am thinking of registering to some other sites, but not sure whether I should stick to one pen name, or start with a new one. So how about you? Is it easier to manage with one name, or have a different name for each site?

Well, mylot is my only writing site... but i only use two user names... since i am very forgetful... so that helps me not to forget what username i used for a particular site... i only want to concentrate here in mylot because i already know that this site pays... and it is quite addicting... for some sites... i just use them for searching... and reading the news...

Hi Aseretdd, totally agree with you that myLot is addictive. I log onto this almost everyday, unless I don't happen to have my laptop with me. Yup, having too many user names tend to be taxing on the memory - same for me too! Thanks for responding and have a great day!

I got a variety of pen names, I think I have about 3-4 different pen names. I just like to used different names, but sometimes I need to used another pen name because there are times that I can't register because it says that the user name that I like was already taken and unavailable. For me, it was alright to have different user names, but there are times that I forgot what name that I registered in that site so I have to enter each to able to log in.

Hi Kylie, how do you remember them all? And the passwords too? For me, it's rather taxing on the memory! Thanks for responding, and have a great day!

I have different pen names but I use this one a lot which helps me from forgetting which is eventually the single most important consideration. I have been on the Internet for three years now and it can get confusing having a lot of pen names. Cheers!!

Yup, for other sites (not writing too), I kept getting kicked out because of the wrong user name. So I can imagine if I use different pen-names for writing. Thanks for responding and have a great day!

I use different ones.. I love a variety of many designs and colors to write with. I have many pens. I just bought some glitter pens yesterday.. I love pens.. I used to carry about 7 in my purse, so I never ran out..

It is fine to have two or more names ,i have a different name, too.the name itself doesn't matters, what we concern is whether we love to have more names,is there any trouble when we have different names?if not , go on with whatever you like.

Hi Jzjqdkd, I would love to have more names, but my memory fails me. You have a unique username. How do you remember it? Thanks for responding, and have a good day!

While I have only a few different sites which I write for at the moment, I would find it more useful to use the same name, as this would make things less confusing for me as well as for others who might read my work. However, I have used mroe than one name in the process of writing for different sites. I would like to consolidate them all so that I can be more readily recognizable int he future. In answer to your question then, I would have to say it is easier to manage with one name than with several. I currently write for 4 different sites, all of which are different in their requirements and participation methods.

Hi CAdreamer, I agree that using the same name would be less confusing, and for me, not so taxing on my memory. And you have a point - it is easier for others to locate or search for your articles. Thanks for responding and have a great day!

I don't use the user name I use for myLot anywhere else. For most of my professional writing, I use my real name. I have a blog where I use a pen name, but I only use that pen name because it is relevant to the topic I'm blogging about.

I only have two sites that I'm writing for (aside from MyLot of course.) and yes, I am using the same usernames for all three. It just makes things easier for me to remember. Lol. It's hard enough trying to remember the passwords and usernames I have at work, don't want to make things more difficult for me.

Yup, Rosedust. Remembering usernames and passwords is really taxing on the memory - I've thought about noting these down somewhere, so that I don't forget. Thanks for responding, and have a great weekend!

This is the only site I write for, but I guess I would use the same name anywhere else that I use here, though. I would use my real name if I were to start writing for a magazine or some other professional publication, but I would use this name at other websites. However, now that I think about it, I think it would be cool to use a pen-name of some sort if I were to start writing books or short stories, like Mark Twain did.

Hi Goldeneagle, you've got a nice name there! Yup, I noticed that quite a number of authors use different names for different genre they write, which is not a bad idea. For example, Nora Roberts write romance novels, which I don't read; but I enjoy her futuristic detective stories under J D Robbs. Thanks for responding and have a great weekend!

Hi Bee, I have a lot of user names for surebut I don't write articles so I think they shouldn't be thought of as pen names. I like to come up with new names and flirt with it. I do keep them in a book so called " website address book." Happy to hear you are a writer, that 's a wonderful talent! And I would like to read the same author's articles if I find it interesting & certainly would be a great help if they use the same pen names. There is actually nothing to hide or be shy about to let other people know ( especially fans along the way ) and enjoy your articles besides getting to know who's the person behind it. Wish you all the best and your articles! Cheers and happy posting!

Hi lazeebee, I use the same pen name on all the writing sites. I know some people don't believe in using pen names. There was a discussion here not long ago about this and quite a few people here said that they preferred to use their real names so that people could get to know them by their real names in case they were to start really writing seriously. For me, I'm fine with using a pen name for now and so far I've been sticking to the same one.

Hi Opal, I've just read the comment earlier about using the same pen name on different sites - that it's easier for interested parties to search for the articles written by you. I think that's great! Not to mention that it's easier for me - not having to remember so many names (or so many things) Thanks for responding, and have a great weekend!

well i don't have an account for helium but i am using a pen name in writing different articles specially if i know it's life threatening. and my point of view on writing w/ same pen name in different site is ok so that you will not be confuse with the names that you use for that site.

I use my real name on all my articles. I guess I want the credit for all my writing. I don't really understand why you would use a pen name. Kelly

I don't know, Kelly. Maybe I am scared that my articles would be rejected or something like that, and I am shy about it! Anyway, thanks for responding - have a great weekend!
