Hubby had his hemorrhoid surgery.

He had his surgery a week ago today. Some of you know that he's been suffering for over 2 months with horrible hemorrhoids. He had a colonoscopy and was told he also had a fissure, which was causing excessive pain.
He had the surgery and is now so much better! He's still in a lot of pain, because that really is a delicate place to have operated on, but he's so happy that it's "behind" him (pun intended).
Has anyone else gone through this surgery or know someone who has? If so, do you have any stories to share? I'd love to hear about others who have gone through this same thing, or from caregivers to someone who has gone through this surgery. I'm losing my mind! LOL (Well, hubby IS a whiner!)

I haven't, but now that it's over how are you doing? Any better? Men are such whiners, when we're sick they expect us to carry on as usual but when they're sick it's a real crisis in their eyes! Although, your husband's surgery and suffering is a lot to whine about so I'll cut him some slack.
Is your stress level any better now that it's over?

Yep, I feel relieved that he's on the mend now. It's still stressful because I've been doing practically everything around the house for the past two months and it's taken a toll on my knees. See my response to singout above. Looks like I might be having surgery soon. But, if they want to do a knee replacement, that's fine with me. I'd LOVE to have no more pain in my knees!
Another surgery for me is not stressful. I've been through enough to think of it as 'just one more thing'. AND, it'll be up to my hubby to take care of ME!
Ah, payback! LOL
My stress at the moment is just trying to get around. I think I'm actually making my husband feel guilty now because I'm not complaining about my knees. He's moving around himself a lot more now and he actually asked ME if I needed anything all day yesterday!
My mother was the queen of guilt trips and she taught me well.

Hang in there, mentalward, or if you're not careful they will have to put you in a mental ward. I had the colonoscopy done but there were no hemorrhoids associated with it; just four benign polyps. I had absolutely no pain except when the nurse tried 3 times to find my vein. Remember---"This too will pass."

Funny thing about my knees. My rheumatologist said it's probably arthritis. She said there might be a touch of bursitis as well, or tendonitis.
My regular doctor (internal medicine) had the sense to send me for an MRI when just my right knee was acting up. The MRI showed two tears. The report said it was a 'something' cuff syndrome. I can't remember what the 'something' was. Since then, my left knee started acting up, most likely because of the added pressure from putting most of my weight on it. It's stinging just as badly as the right knee now.
I have an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon on Oct. 1. This really sucks because I have a house in Halifax to finish getting ready to put on the market! Hmmph! Guess I'll just put the house off until Spring. At least property values are still going up!

My whole life is one big mental ward.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you! You can have some really great laughs in a mental ward!
I'm glad that all you had were the benign polyps! I understand completely about the pain sometimes associated with finding the vein! Geesh! I've had about 28 surgeries in my lifetime. I think all but one required an IV needle. (Some required several!) I've had my share of the painful ones! Well, they're ALL painful, but some are much more painful than others.
Actually, my husband said that the IV they gave him for the surgery was much less painful than the one for the colonoscopy. Maybe they put sadistic nurses in the colonoscopy centers. Hmmm...
Yep, this too shall pass. On to the next major crisis!
My knees will be next on the list. I see the surgeon on Oct. 1. Sigh!

I haven't gone through the surgery or had a loved one who did, but I'm glad for him that he did. I hope you are able to stand the whining. I find a break from my husband when he is "a bit much" is good. Luckily, my husband is seldom a bit much. But my husband had a fit about the colonoscopy, not the thing itself, but the stuff he had to drink. He said he's never doing it again because he's not drinking that crap. I had to listen to him whine and complain about the stuff he had to drink for a day and that was enough whining and complaining for me! I can't imagine if he had had to have surgery. But he was fine with the actual procedure, go figure!

I'm glad to hear that the surgery went well. And I guess now your husband won't also have to suffer, being the butt of everybody's joke? That's good too.
;-)
Take care.

Thanks! I'll be happy once the pain goes away and he stops complaining! He's not as bad now, thankfully, but he's still trying to suck every ounce of sympathy he can from it.
