I live in Lanao del Norte. That's in Northern Mindanao. It had been in the headline these past few months the continuous fighting in Mindanao between the MILF and the forces of the government. Just last month, the MILF had ruthlessly attacked Kulambugan, Lanao del Norte. They had set a school on fire, occupied the municipal hall, terrorized and killed innocent civilians, and literally wiped out the whole place. Since then, everybody here in Lanao are living in constant fear of another surge of attack. The other day there was a text message circulating throughout Lanao. It contained an alleged intelligence report that the rebels are planning an attack in our place. It set everybody on edge and some panicked. We slept restlessly last night coz the attacked was supposed to happen at dawn. It never did but that didn't erase the threat that's constantly hanging in the air eversince this whole chaos erupted. I can only hope for peace to come anytime soon. It's not easy living knowing that the peaceful place you've always known might be interrupted anytime. It is so easy to feed on the hatred I have felt for the Muslim people but I think in this time of chaos it is important for everyone, Christians and Muslims alike to unite. After all it is everybody's wish to live in peace with our family and friends.

Hello. I am from Davao City too. I have lived in a city in Mindanao too, but I have to say that I am pretty lucky because growing up in Davao did not haunt me with experiences such as Christian-Muslim conflict. I really do hope that everything will be fine in Mindanao, and that everyone will get into the root of everything.

Christians and Muslims have been living harmoniously here in our place. but since this whole thing broke out there was an air of animosity between us. Christians are wary of Muslims especially those who live in Purok Nangka, a certain purok in our place, where the residents are dominantly Muslims and are rumored to be members of the MILF.

My heart goes out to you. Just thinking of what people there are dealing with, makes me cringe. Hopefully things will return to the peaceful conditions you once enjoyed. We would wish that everyone wants to live in peace, but if that was the case, there would be no wars. Instead we see killing, violence, crime, and hatred, everywhere to a certain degree or other. And so it has been for millenniums. Obviously there are forces that thrive on violence instead of peace. Hopefully these forces will soon be removed. May God be with you!
