i once downloaded that uniblue speed up your pc but i was all crop.. it will only scan your pc and recommend to buy their software..
dap accelarator only speeds up your file download plus the convenience of pausing and resuming downloads.. now this feature is in firefox 3..

dude try downloading tuneup utilities 2008. they have a way to optimise your internet connection. Try it. might help you in increasing your speed. use FDM - Free Download Manager for your downloads. and firefox/chrome as web surfer.

Have you heard of opendns? It is supposed to increase your internet speed by changing the dns server IP in the internet settings. I find it to have boosted my internet connection especially when downloading updates. You can also try to change your firefox browser settings to make it load faster.

lkvinodh is right.Your connection speed is going to stay the same.Only file downloads will be a little faster.Also try downloading at night because the traffic is much lower then.
