Do you consider adoption a good thing or a bad thing?

Do you think adoption is good, bad, neither, or both? Why? I'm going to go with both because in order for adoption to happen, the child loses their first family. I also heartily disapprove of the fraud and coercion that is happening with infant adoptions these days.

Adoption is a very good thing, but the system seems to corrupt it. It's good when the child really doesn't have a family, for instance, the parents really don't want or can't take care of it, or they are literally not there. But it's bad when either one parent wants to adopt it and the other has no idea that they plan to do this so they lose the child, or a mother wants to adopt it but changes her mind before the 2 day period and they take it anyway, or any other time when social services decides "well I don't think your fit so we are taking him/her anyway" But hey, there's nothing in America that a good lawyer and tons of cash can't do.

I think adoption is a great thing. In a majority of the cases, a child is put up for adoption because the parents cant provide for them. Giving up a child for adoption is one of the most unselfish acts in the world. It is very difficult for a parent to make such a decision, but whne they do so, it is usually in the best interst of the child. Many adopted children, end up in families that love them, care for them, and provide for them in ways that the birth parents could not have, and they end up having far richer lives because of it. As long as the adoption process goes smoothly and is all done legally then im all for it.
