since i was young, i have a fear of needles... it was rather a painful experience for me... guess, it was irrational. when i was 24 years old, a guy medtech jabbed me with a needle to draw blood... immediately, big crocodile tears streamed and he laughed at me. i hated the way he reacted and made fun of me.... sigh but due to the dengue of that year... i was able to cope with this phobia. how about you? do you fear needles too?

No I don't fear needles, though it's not a pleasant experience and I do try to avoid it if possible. When I was a student nurse I used to give insulin injections to diabetics. Doing it on others is one thing, while receiving it is another.

Here when we say crocodile tears the expression means to cry over nothing. I think when a bad-mouthed and insensitive guy sticks you with a needle you have a right to react. I don't think the fear that most of us have of needles is at all irrational. People who stick other people with needles really ought to show some sensitivity. That is my opinion. That needle could be teeming with germs for all we know.

actually, the needle he used was disposable. he just find it ridiculous for someone of my age to cry big tears. medical people should be trained that some has phobias and it's irrational. no reason sometimes why we are just simply deathly scared of needles. happy mylotting.

No, I do not have a fear of needles, I have been in the hospital so many times and had a lot of major surguries. Shots are a breeze. But I do have very bad veins, they are very small, and it is hard for them to find a vein on me, they have to beat and beat on my arm to get one to pop up, then it will colapse. This will make me sick, if they have to keep sticking me time after time.If they can just find the vein and get it over with all is well. They will bruise my arms all up when they are done with me.

I used to be so scared of them! I remember taking so long to get an injection at my pediatrician's office because I kept bawling outside her office. I so did not want the injection. Also, in elementary I broke my tooth and I needed to have it pulled out. I had to have an injection on my gum to anesthetize the area, but I was so scared of the syringe. I cried so hard, I had a nosebleed. when I got to high school, I began to have really bad allergies and I would just be itching all the time for no apparent reason. Turns out, I was allergic to so many types of pollen, and it didn't help that my school was surrounded by wide grasslands. My allergist suggested I get immunized or desensitized and my mother agreed. My brother was also already in the program. For several months I was immunized every week, and then later every two weeks and so on. As I was already in high school, I no longer bawled over it, but I was pretty scared at first, though the needle was really small. However, after a few sessions, I had lost my fear of needles, and after a while, it didn't even hurt anymore. I've been done with my program for a long time now, so when I get my rare injection these days, I get just a little bit nervous, but I'm definitely not scared of it anymore. Last year, I got sick and my mom suspected it was dengue. So everyday, I was at the hospital lab getting my blood drawn to be tested, and apart from the bruising it caused, I wasn't really bothered by it.

First of, that med tech should have been more comforting and not laughing at you. I don't like needles at all. Unlike sister who likes to look at her blood being drawn, I'm the one who closes her eyes and can't wait for the whole ordeal to be over. I have high tolerance for pain but I don't know why I act all weak when I see needles.
