This is what was on the fridge magnet my mum brought me back from her holiday yesterday and it summed up our relationship well. I dont have daughters but I have sons who are also my friends.

I feel the same, it is so true. My mom and I have always been very close. In fact, she was more of a friend at times than a mother growing up. I am still very close with her. And I have a daughter now and we are very close too.

How lovely that you are continuing the mother/daughter bond to the next generation

This is true. My mom and my aunt are my best friends. We do everything together. IT truly makes me sad when I see mothers and daughters who are estranged or do not get along. There is so much of my mom in me and I too pray that my daughter and I have the same relationship when she is an adult.

Yes, its really sad when you hear of children not getting on with their parents. We cant expect to always agree but we can respect the differences.

This is so true! My Mum and I are very close indeed, and I like to think of her more of a friend than a mother at the moment she's that close to me, and I know that I can tell her anything. I would love to be that close to my daughter (if I have one of course) when she is not a little girl any more.

I wish you both continued closeness and friendship
