so they say. but it's not really true, is it. one I find a really stupid question, as it seems so obvious is if we evolved from apes then why would there still be apes. or any question that seems to make out animal abuse is okay. why shouldn't eggs be battery farmed, it's cheaper. any stupid questions out there that you've encountered?

Hi Galena, I'm not sure if I'm in the right frame of mind to be tackling these myLot questions today, but I guess i found my way here for a reason! This discussion caught my eye because that saying is something that has been on my mind recently. For the most part I agree with the saying. I definitly agree with what I think is the "intent" of the saying... Don't be afraid to ask questions even if you might think they are stupid. That's my interpration anyway. When others demean people because they decide to view them (or their questions) as stupid, it hits a sore spot with me. Of course we aren't all blessed with the same IQ's or the same insights as eachother, but I think it's important for even the most intelligent of us to remember that just because you might think you are smarter than another person, it doesn't give you the right to belittle them. Definitely not accusing you of any of those things. I'm just sort of "brainstorming" with the saying that you put out there. And just to throw out the "other side" of the answer. Yes, sometimes there are stupid questions. My daughter is a smart alec and she will intentional ask "stupid questions" on occassion. But I see those for what they are worth. If a person asks a genuine question, even if the answer might be obvious to you and I, I try not to see it as a stupid question if the person asking it is genuinely trying to find an answer. Make sense?

the ape one has always been a bit of a bafflement to me.like did they slowly stop evolving or did it just stop one day?

the thing is, saying that if we evolved from apes (and we are actually still an ape) means that apes wouldn't exist is silly. it's like saying that afghan hounds and greyhounds can't exist at the same time.

Australopithecus was barely hominid and well suited for brachiating through trees. It only takes one or two to mutate from a given genus to create a new genus. It doesn't mean the entire race mutated. Certain traits will be dominant and survive. Similar to Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal, the Neanderthal was a stronger gene set and survived. Cro-Magnon didn't.

The really stupid questions are the ones people could answer for themselves if they weren't too lazy to spend a little time thinking. And then there are the questions we ask again, hoping to get an answer we like.

I'd say that all the questions you posed above, rank quite high on the dumb scale.
