hi my daughter is 15, she has a few friends that are very close
To getting there drivers licence. My question: How old were your daughters or sons when you
Let them ride around with friends It scares me to think of her riding
Around in a car with such young drivers.

hi- you are very wise to feel this way keep being scared and protect her this just may very well save her life.i have triplet boys that are 7 right now and much to young to drive right now but this is one of my greatest fears. i do belive every year of maturity with the kids makes a world of diffrence. why do they need to be driving around any way?that sounds like trouble to me . why cant the parents take them to a meeting place . and they can have fun togeather from there. and then the parents can come back and pick them up and then we know they are safe.they are only teenagers for a short time .they have pleanty of time for driving and riding around when there mind is a little more mature.thats what makes us a parent rather they like it or not.

oh my you have just brought up one of my greatest fears i have triplet boys that are six years old and i tell them all the time they are not riding in a car with one another . they distract one another to bad.no i dont think you should allow your daughter to do this she may not like you for it now but you really could be saving her life.as for what the other person said about the device in the car that detects what is going on that is really a great idea i would love to know more about this.i have decided that sense my boys will not ride in a car alone with one another for along time .i will tell them that i can not aford three cars at once and they will have to wait until they are about seventeen to drive.every year of maturity makes a world of diffrence.i will be saving on insurance, cars and maybe saving lifes and can drive them for awhile.and 14 years old is way to young for a permitt.i know mean mom right. but i know whats going on .we will talk about driven at seventeen .really take this one serious while your daughter may be mature the driver may not and the person in the next car may not be safe either.

I don't think I would be letting my 15 year old daughter go riding around with 16 year olds that have just gotten their drivers license. When you get more than one teenager in a car they tend to not pay as close attention to the road as they need to. Think about what it was like with you and your friends driving at that age.
Don't learn safety rules simply by accident.

Hi Daiejanie, Here in the UK kids can't drive until they are seventeen and they are usually nearer eightten by the time they pass their test. I let my 15 year old daughter (17 now) be driven by her sister but don't let her out with any boy racer types at all. Her sister done a pass plus test and also an advanced driving course and is sensible. I am a bit of a fatalist but I don't encourage danger into their lives. My younger daughter is now in the process of taking lessons herself and so is her boyfriend and he is a sensible lad so will let her out with him but most of her friends luckily don't drive so it is usually public transport or a family member she uses. My children luckily are not old enough yet for that, however, when they are.... i have learned from my technologies professor in college that now they have devisces that can detect if there is smoking occuring in the vehicle, how fast the children are going and if they're breaking the speed limit or not, also it has an extra sensor to let you know if what the toxin level is in the car to tell you if they're drinking or not.
That is something that is installed in the vehicle, and it is no bigger than a lense and there is about 3 different ones. I know that one goes on the visor, and the other two i am unsure of, but they will do what they are supposed to do. My friend just had a daughter who turned 16 and she got them installed in her car. A very good thing to consider, with all the dangers out there. Good luck, and great discussion.
