Earlier this week George Will spoke out against John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin. Today Kathleen Parker has spoken out against Mrs. Palin. Here is a quote from Ms. Parker:
"No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Ms. Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.
Ms. Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage, and there's not much content there."
I have been looking for an explaination for Palin's responses to questions during her interviews but, have been at a loss. Now, I believe Parker has summed it up so well with the word "filibusters". According the the Anchorage Palin's approval rating has fallen to "68%". So do you think that McCain should just keep tracking on and continue putting the GOP, Mrs. Palin, and the American people through this insanity? Do you think he should listen to Parker and find a new running mate?

I think the choice of Palin for VP shows very poor judgment on McCain's part. She is an embarrassment or should be for every American. "Give her time?" McCain said he'd pick a VP who was ready to be president; she's not even ready to be VP. She said that she doesn't know what a VP does. She surely doesn't know how to handle an interview. I don't think she knows what foreign policy is either if she thinks that being close to Russia qualifies a foreign policy.

I still can't get over her foreign policy experience, it makes me laugh every time. If McCain would have shown good judgement he would have picked someone that also did well in the primaries, but he has proved time and time again that quick decisions are the best and just deal with it being a bad decision.

I agree with you. The choice of Palin may be the single biggest mistake in judgement that McCain has made. I read that he has a tendecy to shoot from the hip. One comment was the issue of "gambler" versus "rebel." We don't need a gambler ... it looks like he gambled on going to Washington and the bailout and he gambled on Palin. My belief is he lost on both.

Gee, I wonder if our little thorny and rambling posey saw that about her approval rating dropping...lol! I've often read Kathleen Parker's columns plus she's a frequent guest on Chris Matthews' Sunday show and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised that she'd speak out honestly about Palin. She sure did sum it up well, didn't she? I can't for the life of me understand how anyone, no matter how conservative they may be, could possibly still say they feel Palin has what it takes to be V.P. and - EEEEKKKK!!! - possibly President! Keith made a remark after they played a portion of Palin's interview with Katie Couric, when she said about Putin flying in their airspace or something like that, referring to the "air" which I'm pretty sure he was politely implying she's an airhead...lol!

It is all amazing isn't it? lol I threw in the approval rating just because I stumbled upon it and had enough for the "she's the most popular governor" comments. Like that's a great thing, please, she handed over $3,300 to every man, woman, and child I would like her too if she handed my family $16,000 for doing nothing. I think Parker did a great job summing it up and it's awesome because she's a woman and a conservative!

She scares the heck out of my husband and I. We think that the only reason why McCain chose her was because she's a woman. We weren't big Hillary fans, but now Palin makes us long for Hillary. Have you ever read the book The Handmaid's Tale? Sarah Palin reminds me a lot of Serena Joy. Look up the book or read it, and you will know what I mean.

I was a Hillary fan as well. I didn't want to support Obama but I read up on him and decided he was better. I haven't read The Handmaid's Tale but I seen you mention it before and I have it on my list of books to read and hope to get it within the next few weeks. I think McCain picked her because she is a far right woman and he was losing the far right.

I can't help feeling sorry for her at this point. I definitely think she's out of her league. The bar has always been higher for women. From Claire Boothe Luce to Hillary Clinton, women in politics have had to be the best and the brightest. They've been harshly criticised for just about everthing else but until Sarah from the Frozen North, the intelligence level wasn't questioned. Even when I couldn't stand a prominent women's politics, I never before doubted her intellegience. I hate the views of Anne Coulter but think she is a smart cookie. I like Arianna Huffingtion much better as a liberal because I hated to see someone that intelligent on the conservative side. Frankly, I'm happy that Sarah Palin is not a Democrat.

I feel sorry for her to a point but, she either has a thrist for power or she is too stupid to figure out that politics on a national level is not for her. I prefer to think of it as the thrist because I don't like to think of women as stupid. I could be wrong and even on both parts, I mean it could be a ploy that she is weak in the IQ department. I am very happy that she is a conservative lol.

Well I'm clearly walking into a "Bash Palin" thread, but I'll bite. Kathleen Parker is either an idiot or she wants McCain to lose. Plain and Simple. Dropping your running mate at this point is a guaranteed loss. There was talk of Obama doing the same thing after some of Biden's statements and I pointed out how stupid it was then. There is NOBODY popular enough and powerful enough to fix the damage done by losing a running mate. Even Clinton wouldn't help Obama's numbers if he dropped Biden and I don't think any running mate would have helped McCain more even before he picked Palin so I certainly don't think anyone would be better now.
Frankly, this might just be a strategy to bring down expectations for Palin in her debate against Biden. Right before the debates Obama's OWN CAMPAIGN was circulating information that Obama was "lifeless, aloof, and windy" while saying McCain's skills were unparalleled. I really expect Sarah Palin to surprise people at the debates and I expect the VP debates to be much more exciting than the presidential debates were last night.

"I hate to be the messenger Taskr but, the liberals here have all agreed, mostly of course I can't speak for every liberal but the ones I talk with here, that it is sad as to what is being done to her: in the press, her interviews, the way she is not permitted to speak ect ect."
You spend too much time on mylot for me to believe you think that. Therefore, it's a lie. The liberals here on mylot have attacked her repeatedly. The haven't said it's "sad" what's being done to her. They are saying that she can't handle an interview and rather than watch entire interviews most of the liberals here just look at the clips on youtube that show her only when she stumbles. I'll believe that some liberals have been sympathetic, but most are downright hateful towards her.
"Parker made the comment about Palin dropping out to help with her family and, I can tell you right now, not one liberal would talk crap about that."
That's not true. Liberals would jump all over it to say she couldn't handle the stress of the campaign. Many more would say McCain was a fool for choosing her without properly vetting her. They would continue to attack her until the election was over and people gradually forgot about her.
"I couldn't tell you about conservatives because I mostly feel that conservatives appear to sort of heartless for lack of a better term, sorry, no offense."
I haven't seen conservatives being heartless towards her the way liberals have.
"Quite frankly I only included her Alaskan approval rating because I was so sick of hearing/seeing conservatives rave about her approval rating but fail to add the $3,300 per person she hands over as a royality check every year. Think about it if I gave you $3,300 a year for doing nothing, wouldn't you think favorably of me as well?"
Can you provide me with a valid source making this claim? I've seen it made twice and nobody provided proof. In addition to proving this money given, can you also prove that it is Palin directly making this happen? If it's been going on since before she was governor than it is something people expect and not something she would get credit for in relation to her approval ratings.

I don't know I sure hope for the conservative side that it is a ploy.

Against my better judgement I will respond to you. First off I'm very glad you know what kind of person I am. I'm really glad that you know what's in my thinking, since you're so much wiser than everyone else and apparently have Bush's ability of seeing peoples souls than maybe you should use your powers for good and give McCain some insight on what is in the President of Irans brain, and add Pakistan's President as well since those could be helpful for him to win the coming election.
I have watched almost every interview of Palin and when I have rewatched them I went to the site of the interviewers. ABC's and CBS's. I refused to watch the Hannity interview because well my personal opinion of Hannity is he would do humanity much more justice if he was a nuclear waste handler. Your arrogance is amazing.
I don't know what you consider a valid link but how about adn.com? Alaska has gotten royality checks for a very long time but, Palin increased windfall profits, which is something that Obama proposed and the conservatives cried like babies, yet another conservative does it and it makes her god. Simply amazing! I was against it when Obama proposed it and I'm against the fact that Palin did it. So anyway, with the extra $1,200 Palin gave to the citizens of Alaska on top of their royality check, each Alaskan from birth to deaths door received a check for $3,300. So considering my family of 5 would get $16,500 you can bet your butt that even though I'm against everything Palin stands for, I would have a favorable view of her as well.

Allowing a person whom is clearly out of her "comfort zone" campaigning for a position that they should not be in. Palin is trying to deal with press questions that aren't even hard and will if elected have a lot harder questions that will come from more powerful people than the press. Insanity made be a harsh word but, I will say this about using that term, where would she in her right mind thinking that being close to Russia makes her a perfect person for foreign policy?

The only ones that seem to be talking about it is conservatives and those are the exact same people that said Hillary would go to the DNC and "cause trouble".

I must admit that I have been wondering from the start why he chose her as his running mate. It can't be simply because she is a woman, there were several other women that made the list. I had hoped that he would make a better and stronger choice for VP.

I can't stand to listen to her talk. It is pointless. An example, during the debate she was asked what were her weaknesses and she babbled about her positive attributes. WTF? LOL She is like a canned email answer from a website host.
Palin also reminds me of Obama. They just talk in circles without a point. I have seen the same thing from Republicans and Democrats. It is sad that we have to choose a president from these candidates.

I am considering voting for a 3rd party as a statement that I am not happy with the candidates presented. Maybe in time it would make a difference.
But no one can say that she isn't like a canned email answer from a website.

It was at that point that I had lost interest in what she had to say during the debate (I didn't know that most of what she was saying was wrong until after). She lost me there and I had your same reaction. You could always vote third party. I don't know much about them so please don't ask me lol.

I don't know about anyone else but I am completely embarrassed. It's like watching Paris Hilton on the Simple Life in politics. Everytime I think to myself that she can't possibly be as airheaded about politics as she appears. I am convinced that she got to be both mayor and governor of Alaska by popularity only. Like many people that I talk to here and in my everyday circle, the thought of her being president by default for some reason is enough to make me sick at the stomache. I mean it just isn't funny anymore. I am literally shaking in my boots.
I am dreading the VP debate. This is one debate, that I wish she would not "allow".
I am really pissed because I think by now she could have at least memorized some "good" answers. If I were here I would spead every waking moment to at least and try to get my level of knowlege for "current" events at least up to say the last 4yrs....lol.... I mean she doesn't have enough sense to try and fake it, until she makes it.
