How do you shorten your nails?

I usally just bite my nails even though I only bite them to the point where there short and stop so im not addicted to biting my nails lol. Even though thats probally bad for your nails to.

I will trim my nails using clippers. I won't chew them because my mum says it's not hygiene.

Chewing or biting your names is a very unsanitary habit to have! There could me some really nasty germs under our nails that we can't see. My sister used to bite her nails all the time. For myself, I usually file them down unless they break off unevenly, then I'll use nail scissors to even them out, then file them smooth. I reserve the 'nail clipper' for my toenails since they're tougher than fingernails. My husband is weird... he 'picks' his nails. He'll dig and dig until he gets part of each nail broken off, then tears it across. I've told him that he could tear it into the quick where it will hurt or even bleed, but he still does it. He does this with his fingernails AND toenails! Weird, huh?

I'm bad at this - I tear the edges off, especially when the white edges of the nail start to grow. I do this with my toe nails too!

Hi Sheepie, That is very naughty to chew your nails, I cut them and then I filed them into shape, although I tried to grow them long,they keep breaking so that is why I have to keep cuttting them them. Tamara

I actually have a little ritual with my nails and toe nails . I do not like to paint them . I like the fresh natural look. I will file them till they a smooth and do not have any little areas that maybe sharp . Then I use a little rough buffer for the top of them to get rid of any ridges on the top then I buff them with a smooth buffer that brings on a high shine. I do this once or twice a week and i use a special nail lotion for them . This a special treat I have for myself , it helps me relax and to get into tune with myself.

I cut my nails down. Used to chew my nails but it's kinda a bad habit so I use nail clippers. I don't even see a point in filing my nails either so clippers it is!

I always use nail clippers. I have a pair in almost every room in the house, one in my purse and one at the office. You're supposed to file your nails, always filing toward the middle and never sawing back and forth, but I have no patience for that! My mom files hers, she's very patient.
