How do you tell the difference? At what point are you certain that the love is love and not just lust or that there is no spark and it is only lust?

Can love happen in an instant and remain forever? Or is the suddenness always lust?

Sounds like the difference between a crush and a long term relationship.

Love can happen in an instant but only if it remains for ever!! while lust gets over by time!!!

I would say if you love someone, there's nothing you want more than to be with them (not only physically but emotionally)Lust, in my opinion, doesn't go anywhere near that deep.

So you can love someone and then lust after them periodically?

love is desire of heart, lust is desire of body.

So it is possible to have both for the same person at the same time then?

This sounds gross, but if you can see yourself drooling, farting, pooping, and peeing in front of them and it doesn't make you sick, it's probably love. Also, look at the person and imagine them as a very old man/woman. Still interested? Probably not just lust.

EW, accurate but ew. You are right on the differentiation for the most part but what about slowly growing love?
