Hi friends,In our place where we live mosquitos are growing day by day.We have plants and trees surrounding our house but we have nice breeze too.We are not able to control mosquitos. When it comes ringing in our ears I get irritated. We get allergy when mosquitos bite and its not good for our health too.It leads to chikungunya and all such disease.Even the surroundings are clean mosquitos grow very fast these days.share your opinions please.

We do have mosquitoes in our area also. They keep cropping up everytime the temperature heats up. I usually make sure our windows etc. are closed near the sun set time, because it is at this time that these mosquitoes make it to the home. Also the mosquitoes shock bats are very handy and have used them to get rid of quite a few mosquitoes. Cheers! Ram

Mosquitos cause terrible diseases such as dengue fever and malaria among others. Maybe I am ignorant but I must ask why people do not buy inexpensive bednets to protect themselves. I live in Canada and yes in the summer we have plenty of mosquitos that can cause a disease called West Nile Virus and yet every house has window screens and most have double doors. A scrren door followed by a regular door. So it is very rare we have a little beast humming in our ears and we try to hunt it down. I have travelled to other countries and to my astonishment there were no screens on the windows and those little beasts drove me crazy and I became very scared to pick up an insect borne illness. I also read a report I believe put out by the United Nations that stated that bednets would save the lives of millions of children under 5 each year. So sad they succumb to malaria.

I open the windows in the very early morning before I go out for breakfast. When I come back from breakfast, I close the window. That helps a little bit. But most helpful job is-- you require the management of your residential area to act on it, make a big cleaning job on the whole area.

OMG, this F***ing mosquitoes... just next to my building... due to some fight between neighbours.. a sewer lane has been chocked up... and all the water and garbage in that sewer lane, is getting collected left to my building... thats the recent SWEET HOME for lot of mosquitoes there, and these mosquitoes are not so innocent, they are potential of spreading malaria... my dad has suffered from Malaria 2 times due to these mosquitoes within this month... still they are bitting on my legs and i am helpless, untill sitting on Pc and browsing. Well Antimosquito Liquid bottles [Good knight] has been used in my house, at my college place i prefer, anti mosquito coil..[mortein] that gives better results.

Mosquitos are very much common in India, we use Jet liquid and it is real effective. First try that mosquitos should not enter your house, always close doors and windows, clean the places where you keep water. The most efficient method of controlling mosquitoes is by reducing the availability of water suitable for larval and pupal growth. Large lakes, ponds, and streams that have waves, contain mosquito-eating fish, and lack aquatic vegetation around their edges do not contain mosquitoes; mosquitoes thrive in smaller bodies of water in protected places. Examine your home and neighborhood and take the following precautions: Dispose of unwanted tin cans and tires. Clean clogged roof gutters and drain flat roofs. Flush sump-pump pits weekly. Stock ornamental pools with fish. Change water in birdbaths, fountains, and troughs twice a week. Clean and chlorinate swimming pools; when not regularly used, they should be emptied. Turn over unused wading pools and other containers that tend to collect rainwater. Cover containers tightly with window screen or plastic when storing rainwater for garden use during drought periods. Chikungunya is very much painful, save yourself from mosquitos.

I must say I've been very fortunate. Ever since I moved into this high-rise apartment 22 years ago, I've hardly encountered any mosquitoes. In fact, in all these years, I can count on my fingers the number of times I've come across mosquitoes within my apartment. One reason for this is that in my condominium estate, fogging is done often so that kills much of the pests lurking around. When I was younger, I used to live in a house, and I remember mosquitoes frequently flying into my home, especially early in the morning. I'm now glad to be living in a place where I don't have to deal with these peaky mosquitoes.

yes, there are mosquitos here. but there is a good news that they are becoming less because of the cold weather coming. we usually use anti-mosquitos gas to prevent them. after using it, they become inactive and we can have a good night.

Yes, we get mosquitos all year round. We have nets on the windows, and I have a fine curtain on my children's bedroom door. We have recently heard of a product which is a moisturising spray, but apparently the mosquitos don't like it and never bite you if you have it on. It is available here in Spain, and in the UK, and it is produced by a company called Avon. - they do lots of cosmetics. Although mosquito bites are painful, here we don't get any dangerous diseases, but it is still better to avoid them. What a shame we can't find a way to be rid of them forever.

Yes that's true mosquito's bite is very hazardous to us, dengue-fever is associated to mosquito's day bite while malaria is associated to night bite mosquito. In our place we have mosquito net while sleeping, mosquito insecticide spray during daytime

Hello sumiirajj I think it is common phenomenon in every places. I do not know from where you are. I am from India . In our locality we are facing same problem. In our surroundings lots of garbage is piled up and civic authority is not paying any heed to clear the garbage. As a result of which mosquitos are growing . Accumulation of water/rain water also the breeding place of mosquitos . If you are health conscious than you will have to do little bit extra care to clean your surroundings by yourself like spraying of DDT, bleaching powder , burnt oil etc. In your house use mosquito net while sleeping, use netlon , also ensure that there is no accumulation of water. We will have to develop our own civic sense failing which we will be put into trouble. pkc3000

I can share some tips. See if it helps. Keep your windows open in the day but in the evening close all the windows and door. Put a net on the windows and doors too. So you can keep them open to get the breeze but the insects or mosquitoes wont come in. It does not matter if your house is clean or not. There must be a pond or a stagnant water source in your locality. you have to complain the municipality authorities to treat that water. The mosquitoes come from there. There is a new electric bat available. Keep it with you. If it touches a mosquito, it gets burned. Put a mosquito net while sleeping. I know its the most boring thing to do. But atleast you and your family will get a good sleep at night. The repellents are not good for health. So try these tips. Good luck with you mosquito management.

Since you're from India I don't know if you can get either one of these products or not. A citronella plant or mosquito plant placed outside will keep mosquitos at bay for about 30 feet around it. Place it near a door so they don't come in the house when you open the door. Listerine type mouthwash, the mediciney tasting one. Put in a spray bottle and spray on the outside of your doors and windows. This can also be sprayed inside. Some people say it actually kills the mosquitoes if you spray it on them, but mostly it's used to repel them.
