How would you define a "frenemy", do you have one?

I dont exactly know how to categorize them as they are neither completely enemies to me nor very good friends, so they come under normal friends right or do i term them as my frenemy (of course, they sometime are keen on pulling my legs)

i know our local sayings of describing your meaning. and i do find those people on my own life, especially on your working area. they are not a friend exactly but not also a enemy. we have to keep such relationship for only life.

I don't like the word "frenemy." I prefer to say "palhole." I think your definition of neither completely enemies nor very good friends is a good definition. I usually don't hang out around people like that, but some just can't be avoided (like at work, for instance).

Well, to me this sounds like a person you kind of tolerate, kind of hate, but you're nice to just because you kind of have to be. In that case, I have a lot of them. Occasionally they say something that's out of line. Then I want to punch them in the face, but I can't, so I just laugh.

The old adage of keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer is never truer than in performing arts - my working world. I have a fair few acquaintances that I would term as a "frenemy" - they tend to be people that would be cast in the same roles as me, and, depending on the self-confidence gremlins sitting on my shoulder, are either much, MUCH, better than me, or just not quite as good... So they're frenemies precisely why? Well, if I hear of an audition, I'm not going to tell them, am I? And they wouldn't tell me. And yet we'll all be sitting there, smiling sweetly at each other at the casting call, saying "oh, how LOVELY to see you here, I was going to ring you and tell you about this, but I didn't get around to it". Yeah, right. The irony is, these women are sassy, funny, intelligent, ballsy, and interesting. In other words, if they were doctors, or lawyers, or any thing you choose other than what I do as well, we'd be the best of friends.
