ptc: is it really worth it if you UPGRADE your account?

I have noticed that ptc site is growing rapidly and becoming boom nowadays..with the new cathing word...and yes overused the BUX word...the trend is and ways of ptc have changed way back when i remember it before...now it is not that important if you upgrade or not just as long as you have referrals under you and then you should be fine...many sites offer very high upgrade payment..i saw one site is $85 for an upgrade, some like less than $20 or $40..it really varies..now i know that being an upgrade member has many advantages as compared to standard member..but really with that such high upgrade amount is it really worth it or should it be advisable just to buy referrals instead? Note: you should only answer this topic if you really know what i am talking about.
