Is Thanking A Person For A Best Response Against The TOS??

i was thinking.. if saying "thanks for your reply" to every one that replied is against tos then shouldnt "thanks for the br"? i always thank the person when i get one so i am heavily guilty of this if it is.. what do you guys think?? this is what i read in the guidelines so im thinking it is against them - "Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings."

The guidelines say that thanking someone will not increase earnings, it does not say it is not allowed, so it is not against the rules. No-one should be expected to be paid for saying thank you, but should not prevent anyone from being polite, and letting someone know that a best response is appreciated. MyLot clearly states it does not pay for very short responses in discussions, but I see many people giving one line responses. It is not against the rules to do so, but it will not add anything to their earnings.

Guidelines ask us not to post "thank you for your response" as a comment to every response, but some people do it all the time. The guidelines don't say it's wrong to thank someone for a best response.

I think it is against the TOS but, I don't care. I always thank the giver for giving me a Best Response. I really do appreciate them and I want the person who thought enough about my response to give me a best response to know that I appreciate it. I do try to say something a little longer than Thank you. I don't always have much more to say than Thank you but, if I do, than I will.

yeah i will try to keep doing it as much as possible but i think i will just make sure from now on i make it more than what i was saying (thanks for the br) and so i dont have to worry about it.. but like you i always appreciate any i get

I thank people sometimes but not all the time. They say not to do it but sometimes it is nice to see that people answered you and it is nice to let them know that even if it does not give us more for our earnings. I don't get many best responses so I don't have to worry about thankign them cause I only eever got one or two I think.

No I don't think that is against the rules. I think they are warning people not to simply respond to people by saying thank you for your post and nothing else. I think you are able to reply to everyone who responds to your posts as long as you are actually responding to what they are saying. Some people just say thanks and nothing else to everyone.

well i guess then one "thanks for the br" per discussion shouldnt be an issue then

thanks for the information as i wasnt knowing this but i think i have never thanked anyone alone for the discussion or reply, i always write the comment i want to and then atlast i thank for something if i have felt for and then close the matter and post it but i dont do only thanking. when i was quite new to the site i did it like others here but later i realise that it earns nothing and only thanking is just ending the discussion there itself and hence later i always put the matter and then thank.

yeah when i first started i heard of a few people getting into trouble with just replying with thank you so i always tried to reply with something else but when it came to be getting a best response from some one i always just put "thanks for the br" and i started wondering if it would be considered similar enough to get me into trouble

I don't know LOL I understand why they do it though, I am sure is takes up a ton of space on the servers they would rather use for real conversations. I don't think we are paid at all for responding to our own posts either, so thanking people doesn't pay.

yeah but if you dont respond to your own you dont but the person you gave a br to responding again to say br is what im wondering..

't sound like it would be against the terms of service, to me. when I get a best response, and I see it, I often thank the person for giving me the best response. I don't have time to go through all responses and thank every person, but if I did, I don't think there would be a problem doing it. I doubt they'd censor

Writing short messages thanking everyone won't help you earn more money. Sometimes I do thank users for posting in my threads. I just feel that it is an act of courtesy.

it depends on you what you are thinking.but people always thank those who respond them, right?if they just reply with such a sentence then i also think it is not worth to be paid.only when they give some qualified words then i think admin will reward it.

some people have gotten into trouble with just putting "thanks for the reply" i guess mylot viewed it as cheating or something even if they dont earn which made me wonder about when some one thanks for a best response.. even though its on a much lower scale

If its a DON'T to say thanks for the reply, it seems to me that it would be a DON"T to say thanks for the br. I can understand why people do both, but its not really adding to the discussion.

yeah to me its an extra hit on the post so if one is worthless and against it i would think the other one would be too even though it would be a 1 in a discussion than who knows how many in others

Hi, I used to reply all my discussions with more than you thanks.. I mean, I used to reply and comment all comments until there is nothing more to say, but suddenly last week I started to only thanks everyone because is not necessary to keep the discussion alive, since only the first reply count..

some times its interesting to keep it going in talking back and forth but then some people want to keep it going ridiculously long without really adding anything which i just stop replying

moonlitmagikchild, I think the terms clearly state that thank you post is simply discouraged here and I do agree to a certain extent. I am sure you are aware that it does not earn you anything and it will be simply hogging bandwidth. This is a discussion and lest you have anything to contribute further to the response you had been awarded, I suppose the admin here would prefer that you thank the person by sending a personal message to him/her. I am for this as the admin does seem to want to prevent any precedence of one liners as it is simply detrimental to the health of this forum. You have contributed and contributed well and I am sure there are other better methods to express your gratitude either a personal email and/or a personal message.

moolitmagikchild, Well, in that case wouldn't you want to have him/her or even me as a friend (chuckles). I am sure that our sole purpose here isn't just for the money is it? i am sure this is certainly one of the ways where we can make more friends here and widen our circle. So, I don't and wouldn't see any harm and/or unbecoming here in any sense. Lest you have another point of view, I don't suppose there will be anything that will stop us from being friends with each other here. Would you be my friend then? (Smile)

the only problem with pm'ing is that if you are not their friend you cannot do it

It probably should be BUT theres not going to be near as many people saying that as they would be for the number of discussions and responses that are posted...you can only give out one BR. I say thank you everytime for a BR- except to the people who have said DONT thank me everytime.

I am confused, what does this response have to do with thanking someone for BR.
