Have you ever discovered plants you didn't plant, or set out to care for...that

you end up caring for out of curiousity or because it was a bonus?
Well, presently I discovered a sproutling in pot of my mimosa flamoyante tree. It's a very strange little plant, and while I've been waiting for my tree to flower and have go to seed for...well nearly a couple years now, but this wasn't quite was I expected.
My Mom says often baby plants don't look like what they look like as adult plants, and that it's possible that this young sproutling is just another part of the tree...grown up from the root system in my tree's pot...because we don't really know much about mimosa flamboyantes other than that they're tropical, come from Australia, are sensitive plants and are deciduous.
Well this little sproutling has two fleshy nearly circular in shape, leaves, that look rather like this hitchhiker weed (the name of this plant escapes me at the moment) that's been popping up in the pots of other plants I've been caring for over this year (my maples and miniature roses all have this weed sharing the pot with them, I've been debating whether I want to throw this weed out because I haven't been able to do alot of research for particular uses for it. The fact I keep forgetting what it's called is why, lol). But then, as it grows a little taller it's gotten a small version of the leaves of my mimosa! AND those leaves like my mimosa are sensitive! They close when darkness falls, just like my older and original tree!
It's growing fairly quickly as well, it's been only a week since I discovered it and it's growing more leaves that look just like my mimosa's.
What might've happened? Is it really just a new version of my original tree popping up from its root system in the pot? Is it some strange new plant entirely, completely unrelated to the weed or my tree? Might it somehow be a hybrid of the weed and me tree?
I really don't know, which is why I'm leaving it be and letting it share the pot with my tree. Looking after it out of curiousity.
How about you guys? Similar situations? Any stories to tell?

when i am clearing the garden , there are some weeds and other unwanted plants there ...
my husband do not allow me to remove them because, he likes to say "they are survivors... dont remove them"
