Three years ago, my friend in Dubai invited me for a lunch out. We went to this restaurant near the suburbs. We ordered, and the orders were served. We were about to start eating when we noticed that spoon and fork weren't there yet. We called the waiter and asked for them... Shocking! He said, "We don't have any, all our guests use their hands here." Hah!?! Since we're there already there, we just finished the food and left.
There hardly any signage or warning that says utensils are not available there. Besides, that's the first time I heard of a restaurant without spoon and fork. They are suppose to have them especially if the guests request for them. Whew!
How about you, do you have that bad experience with restaurant you recently visited?

So you mean that even in UAE, there are restaurants that are "Kamayan" style? Don't you think it is tastier and more enjoyable to eat with bare hands like we do with dried fish and tomatoes, etc. LOL. Well, I can't remember anything bad happened to me in any restaurant like the one you mentioned. But there are sometimes, that when I dine with a certain restaurant, that made me the first and the last to dine in there. When I thought of dining in again to that restaurant, I can never find it again? The establishment closed and I can never taste their good food again. I wonder how it came.

Sure, they also have that in Dubai. You know, Arabs and some Indians like to eat with their hands. It wouldn't been a problem with only the friend I was referring to is British. She wasn't expecting that experience.
Happy posting!

Well I have only had one really bad restaurant experience and that was many many years ago back when I was a kid,my cousin who is four years older than me was staying with us because her parents were out of town, and we went to a local Chinese restaurant, the waiter was rude, when he was taking our order he had an attitude which was not nice, and when I accidentally spilled my drink he started yelling at me which pissed my parents off and we never went back to that place ever again.

Oh, boy! He is really rude. Waiter are not suppose to yell at customers. In cases, you spill or broke something, the management could either charge you with the breakage or at least pass it on since it's just an accident.
Enjoy myLotting!

Ha!ha!ha! I can't imagine myself using my hands in a restaurant but come to think of it, it all people are doing why can't I, but first, I should first wash my hands. But it is really surprising that they don't have utensils. They did not even think that there are foreigners dropping by to eat. Or maybe that is their custom and they want people to follow that. So far, I have not had any such experience but the worst perhaps was one we went to a very popular classy restaurant but we found the service so poor because the order is coming separately at very big interval. So this means that the one who ordered the food that came first had finished his food already before the order of another came. Too bad! We did not return to the restaurant again.

That's also a bad experience. Just imagine your boredom of waiting for the food to arrive. Whew!!! But I'm sure the management of those establishments will soon realize the effect of the complaints.

That is surprising, especially in Dubai, but I wouldn't call that a bad experience. That is an adventure!
I had a big bug in my salad at a Denny's. They gave me a free dessert as compensation, but I can't believe they didn't pay for my meal. If I wasn't on a date with my son, I would have made a stink about it.
