Have you ever started or joined a dinner club?

I have always wanted to start and/or join a dinner club. My understanding (or my wish) would be that there would be a few couples and/or singles that would meet at one persons house every month. The host/hostess would plan a meal and theme and all would enjoy. Recipes and wines and ideas and most of all conversations would be shared. It sounds so great to me and I've read about it in magazines but never actually spoke to anyone who has done it. Have any of you done it and are any of you doing it now? Pros and Cons?
