I've been waiting for this for a LONG time! Etsy now allows sellers to de-activate their entire shop with just a few clicks when they go on vacation or in my case, do a craft show. I really don't mind keeping my shop active when I'm on vacation. I do check the shop every other day and often leave a note in my shop saying that I'm away for a few days and all sales will ship upon my return. But when I do craft shows, it's important for me to de-activate my shop because I sell many one-of-a-kind pieces. Without taking down my entire shop, it would be my bad luck to sell a OOAK piece at a show and then have someone buy it from my Etsy shop on the same day. But now, what used to take several minutes to de-activate and several more to re-activate now takes less than 30 seconds! Thank you Etsy for listening to many of your sellers and creating this very useful new feature!

That is a good thing to know and a very smart feature to help out the shop owners. It would be terrible to sell a peice then come home and have it sold to someone else! Thanks for the heads up!

That's one of my biggest fears...selling a sea glass item at a show and someone buys it the same day on Etsy. It would be impossible to be able to replace the sea glass. There's just no way to have duplicate pieces. (it's tough enough to find pieces that look similar enough to create a pair of earrings) Thanks for your response!

What a great idea offered by Etsy. Sounds to me like they are really growing and working with their sellers. Maybe I left too soon! Might have to rethink Etsy and see if I can rejoin just before Christmas. Am just in the thought mode right now so haven't decided if this is a wise decision. We are having another grandbaby in about a month and that will take much of my time if our daughter returns to work. She will need help so there goes my free time. Am not complaining here..lol

Etsy really did a good job this past year asking what features sellers would like to see on the site. This was one of a few that they have/are implementing. It would be great if they could ever improve the search features, but that would probably mean overhauling the whole site. These additions have helped and there are a couple more they have recently asked about. I can't see them rolling those out until after the holidays, but you never know with Etsy. The holidays are very competitive at Etsy and I think you'll need to be able to do a little promoting, even if it's only once or twice a day, for about 10 minutes. Listings tend to get buried quickly, as do promotional threads, so getting into a few threads a couple times a day or more is important. Of course, the smaller your store is, the fewer items you have to promote, so you may not need to spend much more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time promoting (and probable fewer if you're knowledgeable about promoting on Etsy) Of course, I'll also stick your links into a few threads for you, should you choose to come back. Of course, you may be having to much fun showering your new grandbaby with love and attention : ) Thanks for your comments!
