What type of dog do you own?

Yesterday, I asked the question are you a dog person or a cat person, and I got a lot of responses on both sides of the fence. For those of you that are dog people, today's question is simple...what kind of dog do you have? But here is the other part of the question. Does the type of dog you own mean something special to you? Let me explain what I mean. Our family dog is a Yellow Lab/Husky mix. Since I can remember, I've always wanted a Husky. My wife feels the same way about Labs. When we found this dog, we knew we had found the right dog for us, and we've been very happy with him. He's a perfect blend of both breeds...well behaved, high energy but obedient, and very well dispositioned with our kids. So that's our dog story. I look forward to reading about yours? Also, if you are not a dog person but want to respond, please post about the pet in your life that makes your family complete!

Our dog is a shitz su/poodle mix. A tiny yappy little dog. But alot of fun to have. My daughter named her "Tiny Nose Rainbow" when she was little, but we stick to calling her Tiny for short....

Tiny Nose Rainbow? What a great name. :-) I like the unique names so much more than names that everyone uses. Our dog's name is Dakota.

My dog is part German shepherd and part Beagle. She's the size of a Beagle and her hair color looks like German Shepherd. LOL. My daughter bought her from a lady who was selling puppies in front of WalMart. The lady told us she was a lab mix. We couldn't tell because she was just a puppy and looked like lab to us. She was brown and black. When she got older we realized she was not a lab and asked the vet what he thought. He said, not lab. She's Shepherd and Beagle. LOL. She's a very loving dog and I wouldn't trade her for anything. When my daughter got married, I kept her with me because we had another dog and they were best friends. Now the other dog is gone and she is my only dog but she is special. She's protective of me too. One time I had to be in the hospital for a couple of days and my husband said she would look for me and whine.

I bet that she's a unique dog. I think it would be great to have a German Shepard dog that's the size of a Beagle. That's the one thing I don't like about a big dog...they get in the way a lot. It's great that she's protective of you. I think that it's amazing how a dog can really become an integrated part of the family.

So there are a lot of dogs where you live? Are they all pretty friendly? It would be strange to see stray dogs just wandering around here. Where I live, there are lots of dogs, but they all have an owner. Still, if you walk down the street where I live, there's a dog in almost every house.

I have a Yorkshire Terrier! He came when my sis was down because of a ex-boyffriend that she had, them we started to write her as someone that wanted to meet her, and in the Valentine´s day, we gave him to her with the last note! She was stunned with the surprise and now Théo, my york, is like a family member! He sleeps in our beds with us!!! Everybody here loves him!!!
