Is love a physiological need?

A million doller question - isn't it? Some would say - indeed it is. They have a point. There is a natural inclination between the two....Hve't you ever felt a current passing you - you and your girl friend - whenever you sat beside her in a bus or a local train? And you came close aautomatically and your arm or thigh or leg touched her's. Well, this is a natural phenomena. But do we fall in love or search for someone only driven by this phisiological need? May be - May be not! Can you explain why it happens in this manner? Or if it is not a physiological need - what is it then?
