my father is finally willing to quit smoking (he is 53 now), but he does not

want to see a doctor for it, so...in what ways can i be helpful to him (other than moral support) in this regard?...please share your experiences

Yeah I do beleave he can quit without seeing a doctor since I know a lot of people who quit smoking and never went to the doctor. This is a very good time for him to quit since most people start seeing the affects of smoking around his age and hopefully smoking hasnt already hurt him so good luck to your dad.

yes...he has been smoking from a very small age and until now, had no symptoms, but last week, he experienced some chest pain and difficuty breathing and only then decided to stop

He can quit without seeing a doctor, I quit 4 month ago and never seen a doctor. If he needs help with a patch then I guess he want to see a doctor. Good Luck to your dad.

yeah...he would like to use Chantix, but that is not sold over-the-counter
