How often do you change your curtains or drapes?

I have a friend who never change her drapes or curtains. It is a custom built curtain. I am wondering why every time I come to their house they have the same curtain. To my curiosity I asked here if how often she would changed, and she said, not at all. She would dry clean it or just use the vacuum to wipe out the dust. Honestly, mine also in the living room is almost a year now. I did not change it nor wash it. It is still clean and no dust. It is a different kind of cloth that is not washable, so that is my advantage. But in our bedroom I changed it monthly. Our place is not so dusty, so it saves my time to clean and change my curtains. It is really good to see new colorful ones but I'm lazy sometimes. I have more time on my computer than beautifying my house. What about you? Are you that kind who keep on matching your curtains with your bedding? hahaha I love that... but it takes time.

Hi Bebs, No..I don't take time to change curtains in our house! We will wash or dry clean it once a year and it's not also very dusty! The house is always close, anyway! LOL! I love the idea also of changing often but I am too busy for that! ahahhaha..as if full time worker! LOL!

Hi Che, I understand that. As if it is more enjoyable to chat online than changing curtains right?? hahaha I feel that way sometimes. Anyway, it's not so dusty here unlike in our country. We must change our curtains there often because the color will turn brown or black if you don;t change it. But here? no problem.

In my bedroom I usually change them at least once a year. In the summer I like to keep the sunlight out so I hang dark curtains and in the winter I change them to a lighter color. I can't really remember when I changed the ones in the living room. The ones in the kitchen rarely get changed unless they are dirty.

OH? we are opposite because during summer, I put light curtains because I want the sun in. And during winter, I put the dark and heavy curtains on to protect me against the cold. Thick curtains would help also to absorb the heat. That's what I thought. Happy posting.

We bought a house last year and it had really nice drapes all through the house and I have never changed them . The ones upstairs I take down and wash periodically but the ones I have in the living room are the heavy kind that cannot be taken down and just washed so I just dust and vacumn them . I would never be able to afford to change them all the time as it would be to costly and I really like the ones that are in the house because they are all expensive drapes and match the decor of the house . The one who lived here before us had a really good sense when it came to decorating and I would never be able to pick out something that would look as good as the style she picked out :)

I'd love to be able to do that, everything matching, my bedding and curtains, but I don't have anything that matches but my bedding..lol. I don't ever change my curtains either, now I take them down and wash them every so often but I haven't changed them ever. I think I've changed the ones in my bedroom once, but curtains can be expensive don't have the extra money for stuff like that.

well, fancy curtains are really expensive but.. I just go for cheap ones. I never changed the curtain in our living room yet since I out that.. That was December last year and it will be 1 year this December. I made those curtains and they look good that is why I;m not changing them Seriously, I have nothing to change it yet. no money to buy new material to make another curtain. I want to make my own so that I can save and make my own style.

Add me to your list. We move every three months so I really don't care about matching anything.

hahahaha!!! that's it. Hard to keep on putting curtains and then take it off in the next month. It adds to your burden of keeping all your things and getting ready to move.

I don't have any curtians on my windows. I have blinds that I clean once a week. In my old house we had curtains with fringes in the master bedroom and it matched my comforter and bedskirt. We never washed them, not even once in the 3 years that we had them up.

well, yea.. maybe you can do that in places where it is not so dusty.. but in a dusty place maybe a month or 3 weeks would be better. I agree also that if you keep on washing your curtains if fades away the color.

I feel like I change my curtains so often, just because I am not satisfied on how it looks on my living room, that's not normal, huh? We just bought our house june of 2008, and i think I have changed my curtains 3 times now up to this date. My last curtain is a fall color, so I am thinking of changing it again for spring, is this bad?
