Do you wear gloves when cleaning your home?

I never really cared before about wearing gloves when I started to clean up things around my home but anymore I've started wearing gloves. I have this issue with wanting to wash my hands a lot as I don't like anything strange on my hands that is not supposed to be there. And, I have this habit of always cleaning up the grossest places because no one else wants to clean them either, so I prefer having a pair of gloves on if I can help it. Plus, I wear gloves because I hate washing my hands all the time after I use all the cleaners, as it really dries out your hands after awhile. What do you do? Do you wear gloves when you clean your home or do you just grab a rag and a cleaner and start cleaning without anything on your hands at all?

I would usually try to use gloves when cleaning, especially here at our apartment. I don't know what anyone else has and I'm pretty sure I don't want to get it. At home I'm not too worried but it's still something I should do.

I rarely use gloves in my own house. I know what is in all the cleaners I use regularly and those I do not know about I research. Then I may use gloves. I tend to get a bad reaction from gloves so I avoid them.

I wear gloves when cleaning the bathroom or the trashcan outside. But just normal cleaning like dishes, dusting or mopping or laundry no I don't wear gloves for them. I wear gloves when cleaning the bathroom because I use the harshest chemical cleaners in there and it did a number on my hands and I also washed repeatedly after cleaning the bathroom before wearing the gloves because I never felt I could remove all the germs from them and it was making me a little nutty. I buy disposable rubber and plastic gloves. I buy them at Walmart they come on a pack of ten because I rarely find a big pair of rubber gloves that fit my hands good enough to be able to clean comfortably. It is always good to have a good moisturizing lotion to put on after cleaning because I know my hands get red and depending on the cleaner and it's potency can also make your hands peel like a snake shedding it's skin.

The only time I ever use gloves when cleaning my house is when i'm cleaning the walls. And thats not all the time. Usually once a year I will clean the walls. The reason I wear gloves to clean the walls is because of the bleach that I put in it. other than that everything else around the house I don't feel like I have to wear gloves.

I don't use gloves when I clean. They just feel funny to me. The only exception is if I hyave a cut on my hand or finger. I wouldn't want anything to get into a wound.

The only time I use gloves is when I clean the bathroom, which is to me..the grossest room in the house. Cleaning dishes, dusting or sweeping and moping don't bother me.

I seen a report the other day that there are less germs in the bathroom than any room in your house. The reason being that you use more disinfectants in the bathroom than anywhere else. The next least on the list is your kitchen. I too, us gloves in the bathroom but found this informaion rather interesting. Makes sense if you think about it. Kind of makes you want to disinfect under that sofa too! LOL

I keep a box of dispossable latex gloves in my bathroom that I use when cleaning the apartment, and when cleaning out the cat litter box. I have a pair of stronger heavier re-useable rubber gloves that I use when washing the dishes, thus allowing me to use extra hot wash and rince water.

I dont wear any gloves when i do cleaning work at home , even my mom never wears one , i only wear it when im doing my practicals in college as we deal with all pathogenic bacterias, some minute may get into the nails edge so we are asked to cover ourselves fully , we also deal with some carcinogenic reagents where gloves is only allowed , feel very sweaty when i wear gloves may be our place is very hot , so i just use some cleansers and antiseptics after cleaning home , mostly my mom does all cleaning stuffs if im asked to do then surely antiseptics i would use after the whole work

I wear gloves when I have an injury on my hand/s. I'll also use them if I am cleaning something that I can't stand the thought of being on my hands. I prefer washing my hands then sweating inside gloves, but there are times when that's the better choice.

I don't wear gloves when I am cleaning the house. I just pick up my spray bottle and rags and just go at it. My cleaner is also diluted so that helps. And the way I clean I don't get it on my hands anyway.

Hi highflyingxangel - I do not like to wear gloves. I have tried to wear them in the past but always do not like it so I stop wear them. And, of course, my hands always get super dried out like usual! I guess maybe I just need to find a "good" pair of gloves that I like better. Actually, if I had to choose, I would much rather wear a pair of latex gloves that the dentists use as opposed to wearing ones that are specifically made for cleaning around the house and doing dishes. Luckily, my husband is a dentist!... so, he will be able to bring me home some of those kind of gloves... I hope! :)

I don't usually wear gloves when cleaning my own home, but if I am cleaning the oven or sometimes the bathroom. Sometimes I wear gloves when I mop the floors especially if the floor is dirty from having something spilled on it and I am using bleach. I do not like to use bleach without wearing gloves.

I won't think about wearing gloves unless i dealing with something involve with grease or electronic to protect myself. But for normal tidy of study room, Is ok to use bare hand. I not very super cautious or super cleanliness type. I will just start cleaning without anyting

Nope....LOL. I just don't plain like the feel of gloves on my hands when I clean...also since I don't for the most part use harsh chemicals to clean with my hands aren't affected....I've found some of the best cleaning agents are simple baking soda and white vinegar. I understand the gross cleaning jobs though..LOL. The worse for me is when I decided to take off the front grating of the radiators and clean them out....never mind needing gloves...I need a mask so I don't inhale all that crummy dustiness

i have rubber gloves for cleaning the bathroom, latex gloves for the litter boxes, and some spare pairs of rubber gloves under the sink for just incase there's something gross. Unless its the bathroom or the litter boxes i tend to not use them. But you do have a good point about cleaners drying out your hands. It might be a good idea for me to start using them more often!

I never use to wear gloves but my hands were getting damaged bacause of the acid I used for cleaning floor. So then I had pain in my hand and went to the doctor, and he recommended me to use gloves when ever you use this kind of thing. Now everything is fine

hmm, I haven't thought of the cleaning utilities that might hurt your hands... you do have a point, perhaps it's safer wearing gloves after all.

It really depends on what I am cleaning and what I am cleaning with . If I am cleaning the toilet , I wear gloves . Sometimes when I take out the trash I will also. Yet most of the time in my own home I will not use any . Like i said it just depends on the job . i will use gloves when handling certain types of food also . I guess I am kinda weird like that . :P

I use disposable(usally small and/or medium pink latex and/or black nitrle)gloves all the time when cleaning. I don't like touching the chemicals and othe ikcies. Also, I get a couple boxes from mmy job. I have a box in the bathroom, kitchen, and garage. I also use them for dying my hair, cooking/handling raw meat, washing the car, working in the garden.
