I am very excited during Halloween because of my kids. They love to wear fairy costumes and getting candies during trick or treats. And I am one parent who is very supportive of these. After all, they will be child only once so I like them to have good memories of Halloween. As early as this time, I am already looking on a possible outfit to have my budget adjusted. Aside from the trick or treating, I also like the chance of going to the cemetery to clean and remember our dead loved ones. This is a whole family event for us so we also enjoy the get together and the time we pray together.

How I wish my country celebrates Halloween. In Singapore, Halloween is not celebrated at all, other then some business trying to earn money and have halloween themes. If only I had a chance to go around trick or treating. Dressing up as characters that doesn't exist in real life is fun too. I do hope I get a chance to celebrate it.

I hope you get the chance to celebrate it, too!! It really is the most creative and fun celebration!! It's always fun to see the ingenious ideas that people come up with for costumes and decorations! When you do celebrate Halloween, be sure to carve a jack-o-lantern!! :D

Hello ahensen! My friends and I wanted to celebrate Halloween this year, but we've no idea where can we celebrate it. We wanted to book a resort and invite our different groups of friends to celebrate and play games and dress up, but we've no venue (which is in our budget, we are students with no income afterall). Sigh. I guess that's a good bye to the plan. =( Hi marisriel. I am from Singapore, a country in Asia as well. Well, my country is make up of 4 major races, Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians. We do not celebrate it over here and I have no idea why. It's a little disappointing how I've never got a chance to celebrate such a great event. Sigh.

I am so excited because of my kid too. This year will be her first "real" Halloween. Last year she was only 10 days old. But I can't wait to see her reaction to everything this year. She can walk now and it will be sooo cute. I just love all the costumes that I have to choose from.

Is she the one on your avatar, asandifer? Your daughter is adorable. I was not able to bring my youngest daughter when she was a year old because I was still working in an office then. Now that I resigned and just staying at home, I have all the time to pick a nice costume for her and bring her to the mall to trick or treat! There are really lots of pretty outfits out there. I like the red beetle costume, the pumpkins, the butterflies, but I think I will be putting an angel costume for her this year.

Yeah it is, Thank you! That's funny, I was planning to dress her up as an angel, but at the last minute I decided she was going to be a ladybug.

no, not really. halloween is not that big of a deal in the philippines. only a few celebrates the same. though there are a lot of sponsored parties where people (young and old, usually the latter) dress up for hallow's eve. other than that, said event is not really celebrated. no T-o-Ts, no scary house displays, and no teepee-ing. to be honest, i have never been trick or treat-ing my entire life.

Hi Meiji, I am in the Philippines too but we are pretty excited in Halloween because of the kids. All malls have their own trick or treat. Sometimes we even go mall hopping just to trick or treat with my kids. And one time, my in-laws even prepared for a Halloween party in our house complete with costumes and food designed with blood, fangs and candies. It was fun! We all just wore black and cheap masks that we bought on malls.

I am not a big fan of Halloween. It was ok when my kids were younger and we just went to a few homes that we knew. But the more I think about Halloween, it is a senseless holiday. For 364 days out of the year, we tell our children to be safe, don't take candy from strangers, don't go to strange houses, but then we contradict ourselves on this one day. I don't pass out candy(can think of better things to do) and I am glad that my kids are 18 &20. Halloween is not my favorite holiday,at all.

Well, we do have different opinions on certain things sdmoonchild. There are things that we find happiness on doing it while others sod about it and vice versa. There are also lots of senseless things or holidays that we just celebrate for the sake of celebrating and have a good time out of it. For the trick or treating part, I think it's the responsibility of the parents to ensure safety of the kids. As for us, I will let my kids do take candies but not from total strangers since my neighbors are not that strangers to us.

I'm excited, just because I love the season. I love everything about fall... not sure why, but I do. I also love the haunted hayrides & houses... definitely looking forward to those!

That is what I envy most on other countries. You have so many seasons to celebrate unlike here in the Philippines where we only have the wet and dry season. What is fall Ikoenig? I thought fall is the same as autumn because all the leaves are falling and they are all oranges. I see them on movies and pictures. I really love to be in some place for a part of my life where I will be surrounded by orange leaves falling from the trees.

When I was in a training center, we also had a celebration of Halloween, all students wore many kinds of costumes, then our principle led us to walk in Yangshuo Park, some students tried to make some strange noise, it was so dark, but also there were lots of fun.

A parade! That's so nice! From what country are you Megan? My kids also join parades but only in malls. I don't know if their school will be celebrating the Halloween this year and parade with costumes too. My child is in preschool and they are only six in the classroom but I still hope their teacher will arrange something for them to have them pictured as souvenirs.

I've always loved Halloween. I suppose when I was little it was exciting to dress up and the next day happens to be my birthday, so it was an extra special holiday for me. These days, my kids dress up, and I myself usually dress up too. We turn the front yard into a horror house, and make the kids go through it to get their candy. We also have a party/haunted house in their martial arts school, and we usually end up taking a room in the house. We've had all kinds of themes, including a blood bank, Hannibal's care, and Hollywood Horror. This year we are planning to do Disney horror. We will be the 3 little murderous pigs who take revenge on the big bad wolf. We have contests for the best room and prizes as well, so we do find ourselves getting into the spirit of things. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Wow, it's amazing and a very nice Halloween idea, three little murderous pigs, ha I think it will be very fun to join your Halloween party. As for us this year, I don't think my in-laws will be holding a party in the house since the house is being renovated, the bathrooms and the other rooms. If ever I have some spare budget, I will be looking for hotel Halloween events. Sometimes there are hotels who dress up for the occasion and give lots of prizes to kids who eat there with their parents.

I guess I like halloween but what really takes my interest around this time is the fact that there always seems to be a horror movie or two on the box! I just love horror movies and halloween is the best time to show them I think. I guess I don't go out trick or treating anymore, I'm 33 years of age! You do have the kids though who come to your door and some of them are quite friendly! Others will throw tomatoes at your windows or something similar if you don't give them anything. I'm all for halloween anyway. If you have your family with you then yes, you can enjoy some quality time together. I live alone though and my family passed away many years back. I only have my close friends available at this time but sometimes they need to be with their families too. Happy Halloween by the way, I know it's early but all the same. Andrew

That's not so nice belk, but there are really off times that we have to pass on some events to make way for necessary settlements or reconciliations. Halloweens come yearly and you still have all the time to celebrate it again and again. I hope your husband and sister makes up since Christmas is already coming. You may pass up on Halloween but definitely not on Christmas, right? Have a good time and stay happy. I hope to hear from you again.

Yes I'm excited for Halloween, firstly because I work part time at the local elementary school and get to wear a costume all day, last year I went as a wizard/witch, the year before as Pocahontas, and even though I live very rural, working at the school gives me the opportunity to buy the candy and hand it out to the kids as they head for the buses. Plus living in New England the foliage is just about peak then and it is gorgeous outside, great for long afternoon walks, and I love haunted hayrides, houses etc!

I guess that's pretty exciting. I love to wear costumes too except that they are too hot to wear and the weather here in the Philippines is intense even on late months of the year. I would also love to give candies. I remember when I was still working on a telecom firm, the company held a Halloween party for the employees' kids and my kids got a lot, two big bags of candies. It was really fun as the bosses also wore superhero costumes for a competition.

I agree with crunkyjens, next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday!! I have a 9-year-old and we love to go all out with the decorations. We go for the "harvest" look and add the Halloweeny effects. We also have this tradition of making decorations for the season. Last year, we used an old piece of barn wood and wrote "Witches Inn" on it and hung it beside the front door. We had trimmed trees around the same time so we took a nice branch and tied a handful of straw to the end for an authentic looking witches broom that we leaned against the sign. We also love to come up with creative luminaries for the sidewalk. We're going to try to cut jack-o-lantern faces in the sides of old coffee cans, paint them orange, put a little sand in the bottom and add a tealight candle. I have a feeling though that it won't be as easy as it sounds!! We make an original scarecrow every year (never looks the same) and carve 6 pumpkins in various sizes to scatter around the front porch. We've started browsing the big Halloween stores for costume ideas, of course, we love the whole makeup and all vs. the simple mask. When he was real little, we did the spiderman and batman thing, his little brother and sister (other mother's) were Robin and Catwoman... they were 5, 3 and 7 mo. They were too cute!! Once he got older, we went all out on the vampire costume. We made his hair black, used black makeup to give him a widow's peak, the white face, red lips, a little shadowing and of course, the classic touch of dripping blood from the mouth. Once he had a taste of the theatrical costume, he won't go back to the masks! I don't blame him though, I won't either!! Hope everyone has a Fun and Safe Halloween!!!

i'm excited that halloween is coming. next to christmas, this is my favorite holiday. i don't dress up but i do accompany my younger cousins trick or treating and of course, i get my fair share of their candies. lol! another thing i like about halloween are the praties that my friends throw. i don't bother gettign a costume but i do like to ogle at the sexy customes that most of the girls wear. last year, my favorite was a friend of mine who went as a sexy nun. lol! very sexy and crazy costume. anyway, i think this year will be different because we'll be doing away with the party and instead we will just have a dvd marathon of really scary movies plus a lot of chips and booze. i doubt if someone who dress up just to watch "the sixth sense" and get drunk. lol!

You brought up a good idea, Allen! We haven't thought of our happenings yet for this Halloween! I've just scanned possible costumes for my daughters but I haven't bought them yet, still waiting for coming salary. For us adults, I think I'll suggest that bringing in horror DVDs will be nice. November 1 will be a Saturday here in the Philippines and that means we will get to watch a lot of horror tv programs too, perfect!

My kids are also definitely going to a Halloween party with me. But I have never experienced putting on a costume myself. I think that will be cool. If ever, I want to dress up as a fairy godmother. Halloween is usually for kids only in our country. There are not so much parties which include adults like us. But I think there are some parties on some richer communities. Our country is much more on going to the tombs to visit their loved ones during Halloween or for us All Soul's Day.

I am very excited for Halloween coming up. I do not have any children, so I don't really share in the excitement of making costumes for littles ones or trick or treating but I love everything else about it. I love decorating my apartment and the outside of my door and making it all Halloweeny and spooky! It's almost the 1st of October and that's when I pull out all my decorations and hang them up, then decide what else I can buy to add to them. I have started a tradition with my dog, who is now a little over 1 years old, so this will be her second Halloween. I get her a little doggy costume and dress her up, then I dress myself up and we take a quick picture and send it along to all my relatives. I recently moved down to Florida a couple of years ago, so all my family is still up North in Michigan so it makes for a nice greeting. I am not a fan of dressing up dogs either, so the costume goes on once for the picture, then it comes right off! Our first Halloween last year I was a witch and my little Bella was a strawberry! LOL She looked so cute! So in short yes, I enjoy Halloween very much! Next to Christmas it's my favorite holiday!

Hi crunkyjens, your dog is so cute! And that is very nice for you to adorn your house with Halloween themes. Here in our country, decorating the house for Halloween is not that usual. I don't know for those villages where more rich people can afford to buy Halloween decorations. And mostly, we already adorn our houses with Christmas decorations as early as now. But I like the Halloween event because most television programs are about ghosts and horror stories. They are so creepy but entertaining. Good luck with your dog. What's her or his name? I wish he gets a lot of candies too like my kids Enjoy!
