will the international movie industry watch "one more chance" or "ang tanging ina" or "enteng kabisote" or "kulam"? i doubt it..even if these movies were dubbed in english nobody will ever see these movies..if they watch this stuff, they must be suicidal..their concept/story is so cliché..its even cheap..they will never surpass movies like titanic or LOTR or star wars..why cant we make these kind of movies?

Some are, and you will notice that those movies who made it to international market are the ones with no hifi effects on it, like Ploning or the one with Garon Baisler. or some other Indi films, well I think it is not just about the budget but the creativity and the idea itself, I always wonder how in Hollywood films, they can make a very interesting and good movie out of a day or two on the lives of the lead. I notice that most foreign movies, the story revolves around in just a day or two or just weeks unlike in our local movies where it takes forever or centuries before the story ends. oh well it still boils down to creativity and good story.

thats exactly my point..Filipino film makers compensate for the lack of budget by just making sensible, award-winning, low-budget movies. isnt there a single big budget Filipino movie that can take over the world? China made it big. they have movies like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" this particular movie has a lot of sense and was made on a big budget plus its an award winning movie..it won the academy award (oscars) for best foreign film..can we do the same?

I have seen some of filipino movies aren't good enough and globally competent. It's really crap that makes me feel bored and sleepy when i watched it.Filmmakers must need a huge amount of money for creating a superb films and maybe i reckon that they need to have intensive study and effective film strategy and movie tricks.

I will agree if we're referring to movies that are produced by big companies. But Independent films are highly competent. Have you heard of a movie from Star Cinema or Regal Films being nominated to international film festivals lately?

You're right, but there are other movie greats also such as "Jose Rizal" or Lino Brocka's "Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag". The big difference is the budget, as you very well know.

i like the fact that filipino film makers creat movies which are low-budget but with a great story..i only wish that someday our movie industry could somehow parallel that of hollywood..right now all i can see are "commercial" movies..movies that appeal to a wide audience..movies that create fancy but lacks quality..

I agree with you that the that the story line for most of the filipino are the same. Especially with the comedy films. the plot always goes like this. There is a girl who is rich and beautiful while the guy is poor and ugly. The guy would court the girl but the girl dumps him. Somebody would kidnap the girl and the guy would save her eventually. And they would fall in love in the end.
