We put our dog to sleep. It was hard but not as hard as watching him suffer. He was getting old and had arthritis so bad he couldn't get up anymore. When he did manage to stand up, he could only walk a short distance and then fall down again. At first, it was just that he couldn't get up the steps without falling. Then he would get into the pond and couldn't get out. Then finally, he couldn't get up at all. We didn't want to put him to sleep but we couldn't bare seeing him suffer like he was. I think it depends on the situation and your belief.

i don't think any living thing should have to suffer pain, so if your dogs are in pain I think it is the kindest thing to do so long as it is done in a humane way...I even believe in some circumstances it is better for humans as well...

It depends whether the animal is suffering. If it's dying of old age and isn't in pain, I'd probably not interfere. If it's sick and in pain, why would you put the word of the bible before that? Do you think it makes you a better person to watch it suffer?
