I have found in life that there is people that think they are "owed" something. Whether it be from the government, employer or friends. It drives me right around the bend. I don't mind my tax dollars going to people that need it. That doesn't bother me and I wish we could help more to the people that truly need it. In our country Canada we have pretty good social programs. But for those that are on disability the pay is so low that these people are often left living below the poverty line. How can people get healthy and eat right when they can barely afford a roof over their head. But...there are always the people that think the world owes them a favor. Well it doesn't and I think people should realize that and try their hardest to get by in life on their own.

I'm with you! I never have understood the "why doesn't someone do something for me" attitude.. The handicapped.. the elderly and orphans, most certainly we should help.. and also temporary help when folks need it.. But I think the system(s) get so clogged supporting people all their lives, that those who really need it, don't get enough.. and many who could use aid for a short time, don't get it at all..

It is true indeed. There are so many people who know all the tricks to use the system and take resources that the truly needy need.

Hi whywiki, I agree there are always people who feel that they are owed something and I've known a few of them. I am proud of our social programs in Canada and would like to see more done for those in need. I think we must eliminate poverty, but I don't think the world owes anyone a living and those who can, must try to make it on their own. At the same time I have learned not to judge people, everyone that we think is healthy may not be, Life has though that. Blessings.

I too am proud of Canada and how we help. I got an email today that an acquaintance of mine passed away, she was only 44. I knew she had health issues but she never complained and went about her life. I never for a moment begrudged her any of the help the government gave her. She was the type that didn't think anyone owed her and always tried to do for herself. It has made me think that we never know when our life will end and we never can know the true suffering of someone so it is best not to judge and to live life everyday to it's fullest.

AMEN to that!! I am one of those Canadians on disability probably living below the poverty line, and living in an apartment with rent that increases every single year. It's nuts!! I am doing what I can to make extra money to suppliment my small income. I am not one of those who thinks the WORLD owes me anything. I am getting some ASSISTANCE but I am doing what I can on my own. Making a buck from MyLot is one of those things.

In all honesty I've found that the people who most exemplify this attitude - is people with money. I've worked in customer service positions for years, everything from waitress to call centres. And the people who get the most angry because you aren't going out of your way to make their lives easier - and for free at that - are the people who least need it.

I too have worked with the public and you are so right the more they have the more they demand and the people with less are more generous. It is a funny world we live in.

I can understand the two strikes thing as I am a fat woman but I don't feel anyone owes me anything. I have to make it happen on my own. Unemployment is a hard thing but does anyone really owe you anything?

There are always some people around that think they are owed something.Sometimes I complain that why the society doesn't change as I expected. However, the objective world will not change as we think ,we have to obey the rule of objective world. We owe nothing to others ,nor do they.
