I have a female dog which I got from the animal shelter in Feb '08 and no one knew her breed. She's got a beautiful black coat but her hairs are extremely fine and soft. Of recent, she has been shedding all over the house and the carpet was almost covered with her hair. There are very fine hairs that are floating around which sometimes cannot be seen by the naked eye - and we are probably breathing them in as well. I bathe her every week and let as much hairs shed and get washed away - but after she's dry, the problem recurs. In order to minimizae the shedding, now I use a steel fine comb every morning and that gets as much as hairs out as possible - and this I find has been quite effective to an extent. However, it has not been a solution and I hev e decided that we have to live with it - with her. We love her dearly and will not trade her for anything.

I also use a dog food de-shedding supplement called "FURMINATOR" which is available here in USA. Its an oil which contains Omega 3 & 6 Fatty Acids that helps reduce shedding and supports a healthy coat and skin. Moreover, I have stopped giving her anything sweet or contains sugar which is supposed to be bad for their skins and hair. I used to share my cookis with my dogs whenever I've been eating them; but not anymore. I also use the steel comb on her hair every day. These steps have helped reduce her shedding to a great extent.

Shave it bald. Or get rid of it....one or the other. Otherwise, theres really nothing you can do about it.
