Do you buy a new winter coat every year?

For those of us who experience cold weather, do you usually buy a new winter coat each year? I really could use one, but I have to pass on it this year, there are other things that needs to be considered first. I think the last winter coat I bought was at least five years ago. I did buy a jacket maybe three years ago. I prefer to wear a jacket in the winter, because I can always put on extra sweaters under it when it is extemely cold.
Do you prefer a coat or jacket, and do you replace it each winter?

I haven't had a new winter coat in so many years I can't remember...oh yeh...I think it was back in 1999 that I bought my last new coat. The coat I wear now isn't really a coat at all and doesn't do a good job keeping me warm. It was given to me as a hand me down by a friend who bought it for her mother at a thrift store and her mother never wore it and gave it back. I need to get a new coat this fall before winter and it is on my priority list as I finally have the money to do so. Now hopefully I will be able to find a nice one that fits and is warm and comfortable.

Hopefully I will find one that fits. I am not small and finding a coat large enough for me could be a challenge in itself.

i need a hoodie or sweat-shirt... i don't have one! lol well, its florida so never really need it but i want one. i don't have any that fit me anymore since i've lost weight... but haven't had the money and i need all new clothes so i've been getting shorts and shirts since its not winter yet and it does really get that cold here in hell.. i mean, florida lol i wish it got colder here though! cold enough to snow! hehe and i like zip up hoodies or plain sweatshirts over jackets.

NO, not even close to every year. I have had the one I own now for almost 12 years! But this year I really need a new one as the other one is on its last leg...lol I always wear extra sweaters in the winter as I hate the cold! So this year I will have to break down and get a new one...I hate the thoughts of how much this will cost me!

I really need a new winter coat as well. I have a jacket that i wear. and I can put a couple of layers under it. 
I do not mind doing that so much. I it is nice to be add to add layers or shed them depending on the weather! I have thought about going to a local thrift store and getting one,.Who knows that might happen! It not I will live!

Yeah, that is how I feel, as long as I have something warm to wear that is all that matters. I usually wear a jacket, I use my coat, if I am going out dressy.
