I took my 5 year old to the dentist yesterday after he got out of school. He had two baby root canals.
When he woke up this morning, his bottom lip was all swollen. I looked inside his mouth the skin was all white and on the side of the white skin was a cut. I can't believe they did that.
I didn't notice it right away because as soon as we got home from the dentist at 6pm, he fell asleep and stayed asleep until he woke up for school this morning. He saw a different dentist this time from the one he usually sees. I am so upset right now.
Does anyone have any horror stories about the dentist. Did you have any bad experiences?

I feel sorry for your son. There are really some dentists out there who does not take care of their patients and just after earning money. They are forgetting that they are serving people not machine. I hope that this incident will not bring a phobia to your 5-year old son on going to dentist again someday.

I hope not either. I gotta call his teacher now and let her know why his lip is all white and swollen. Don't want her thinking I hurt him. The teachers have to report things like this. Off to make some calls.......

He was crying this morning. He said his mouth hurt. This was after I washed his face. I guess I pressed to hard on his lip.
I didn't speak to the dentist but I did speak to the lady at the front desk. She said that if it is white and puffy then it is because he bit his lip.
There is nothing that could be done. She suggested a home remedy if I wanted to try it.
She said I could take mylanta and benedryl and mix it together and put it on the inside of his lip. Haven't done that yet as I have not been able to get to the store. I don't drive which makes it hard and there is no public transportation here.

I hope you took your son back to that dentist... so that she will see what she did... you can even demand for a refund... it is not good that these people are not doing their job properly... as for me... i do not really have any dentist horror stories... since most of the ones i go to are quite good at their job...

When I called the office yesterday, the lady at the desk said he bit his lip and that is why it is all white and puffy. I don't know about that. I am wondering if the clamp they used to keep his mouth open did that. I was in the room with him and I didn't see him bite his lip but who knows. She could be right.

Sorry to hear that your son had a bad experience with the new dentist. I could see maybe accidentally cutting him, but not telling you about it is uncalled for. I would be calling them to tell them that much at least. Make sure you clean it off really well. You do not want him getting an infection.
I have never had a dentist cut me before, but once when I was getting a broken tooth pulled it popped out and the dentist lost his grip on it and it landed in the back of my throat. I almost choked on it. You should have seen the look on his face when it happened. He looked really scared.

Not yet. It is 7:43 in the morning. Don't know if the office is open yet. Think they open at 8am.
