Do you agree with this statement? Are humans all like that? Why? What is your opinion? I shall start first... To me, not all humans are like that. It must depend on their upbringing; the information they receive when they are young up til now, their culture; what is considered socially acceptable to the person, and living conditions; whether his habitat is so constantly void of pleasure that pain is normal to the person. Humans have this kind of mentality because of the spread of monotheistic religions. They have the ideals of a heaven encased in their mindset. So therefore, to like to feel pain is socially unacceptable to most people on the planet, because it is "satanic" and "torturous". Please feel free to build on this discussion and add on your own opinions. Having religions views would be fantastic and make this discussion more fruitful.

I hate pain because it hurts. Mommy, it hurts! Yes mommy, I'm a big boy but it really hurts. Can you make it go away? Who likes pain? Not normal to have pain. And yes, looking forward to the time when there will be no more pain. Where no one will suffer anymore.

I guess it is in our nature to avoid pain then? But do we keep expecting pleasure then? Thanks 1hopefulman!

The Genesis account of creation says that God placed man in a garden called Eden. The word Eden literally means pleasure. There was no pain there. Man experienced pain when his rebelliousness resulted in his being expelled from Eden. Interestingly the last placed Bible book, Revelation, ends with paradise being restored, saying there would be no more pain. Maybe, it's why we expect pleasure and dislike pain. Even when we see an animal suffering most of us are moved with pity to ease the suffering. Does God not feel the same? Make what you want out of this. But I for one am a firm believer that one day pain will be past and let the fun begin! :)
