First, I finally wrote my article about the uses of Milkweed today. I had gotten permission to do that topic on 9/2/08, but never got the chance to sit down and write it. I wrote a pretty long article for me. I printed it out so I wouldn't have to reinvent it if it didn't save. I've had troubles in the past with an article disappearing on me. I don't mine retyping it, but the second time, I know I've forgotten some good points or one-liners from the first time. It took! Yeah! I didn't see anything for spelling. I always feel guilty that I don't donate an article. I will have to donate one someday just so I can stop feeling guilty, esp. since there is a teaching charity and I'm a certified teacher.
Second, the rating. I rated a few articles. I skipped the piercing of nipples article, I somehow don't feel qualified for that (and I hope I never am-oooow). A different rating page came up, at first it looked like it was blank, I scrolled up, it was to rate articles for a magazine and it had instructions on the top. That was new to me. Also the ability to email a writer was new to me. I emailed someone about pumpkins over-running their garden in a garden story. Couldn't help myself, it was a cute story. I actually enjoyed rating the garden stories.
Third, went to my "about me" page. I can't seem to get my page to come up to change my featured story. If someone knows how here, that would be great, if not, I'll ask at one of the boards on the site. I really want my new article first because milkweed for arts, crafts, sewing, etc. will need to be harvested in the fall and winter. My current featured story is more for summer.
So have you written or read at Helium lately? Has your experience there changed? What new things do you like? What things do you not care for? Are your articles timeless or seasonal or both? I have some of each. Thanks and take care

I like writing for Helium and had wrote a very substantial amount of articles till now. There are many topics that I can choose from and usually I do not have to think of the topic myself. It has also earn me a decent monthly income from my hard work earlier. I had stop writing for Helium now due to my lazy mood of late.
I agree with you there are bound to be articles that are out of this world and out of your imagination even. But, thats where the fun is, isn't it. My name used in Helium is the same as MyLot; just to share if you are interested.
Cheers.

It seems like what I know about the topics they choose, everyone knows or many people who write better than me know. So I don't do very well in the money department. But I have done well with articles about things that not very many people know about.
I like a lot of topics. I'm just glad there is a skip feature. Some things I can't very well rate. I love the gardening stories. They're sweet, cute, or funny.
My name is the same there, too. Just in case you would like to check. Thanks and take care.

Hi writersedge, I know you can do well in the writing contest. they have diferent topics and subtopics. I , too, thought I could not make it there, but I did...I still haven't any article bought in the marketplace however, but I'll keep trying, I'm still barely a month there, but I'm enjoying myself tremendously. Congrats on the milkweed article, I'll visit there now so I can read. Happy mylotting.

I have been writing quite a bit on Helium lately. They have updated all their webpages lately. I try to rate for 20 or 30 minutes on most days. I love the fact that people can't see the articles already written and posted for publishers in the Marketplace. Before, people would look at each other's papers, and "lift" the info and write it into their papers. Now, that doesn't happen because nobody can see them until after the publishers make selections, unless you are rating articles.
I have written articles on so many subjects there, health, diet, living green, saving money on utilities, psychology related topics, Buddhism, the list goes on and on.

Yes, I've noticed many changes. They keep working to try to make it better. They must be doing something right because I'm making almost $2.00 a month now. Before, I had all I could do to get $1.00 a month.
I'm trying to think of what to write next. Maybe I should do a product evaluation or something. Maybe a money saving article. I don't know. I'm still thinking.
Yes, you certainly do write a lot of interesting things. We should check each other's articles out every so often. What's your newest one?

The latest article I wrote was for Marketplace and it was called, "Spring into Action: 5 ways to Get Moving." It was about 5 ways to stay motivated to go to the gym during springtime. Don't ask me why the publisher wanted articles on that subject right now. Anyway, I put one in.
I sold 2 more articles on Helium yesterday, so I was thrilled about that. I've got 4 more pending and should be writing more articles right now instead of chatting on myLot!!
Do you go by "writersedge" there also? I'm thinking you do because I think I already checked your stuff out there.

Yes, you're right, I'm writersedge both places.
Instead of just for Spring, they should have made it for Fall, Winter, when it's raining, etc.
That's OK, they did the same with harvesting dandelion roots. They had that topic in the spring. Now is when you do that. I started the topic with, Autumn, etc., time to dig up the dandelion roots. You can't dig the roots of most plants until they've grown, late summer is the earliest for most roots. Radishes, wild leeks and winter garlic being the exceptions. You have to wonder, especially since they already had so many dandelion topics. But I didn't see anything for the roots and someone must have searched for it or something. People searching for it in the spring must have been trying to rid their lawns of them. Then they'll get my article telling them to wait until fall and harvest them! Ha, ha. Take care
