When I started my newest blog, I made sure that I had a few good, solid, photo heavy entries before I started networking... Then I went and found other blogs that were in the same niche as me. If I liked their content or found something interesting, I posted comments. Most blogs have a place in the comment section where you can leave your address for your blog. Other readers will read their comments and visit your blog as will the blog owner (especially if you gave them something to respond to).

there a number of ways to start driving traffic to your blog and some of them are already mentioned here but some are not the biggest one is bookmarking once you have your blog going (daily quality, link bait posting on similar blogs) get onto sites like digg and stumbleupon marking your blog here will increase visibility and encourage traffic mybloglog is another site you should check out also twitter can be a valuable tool as you build up followers here you can add alerts to new posts here social networking helps alot too hope that helped
