I saw this in Kohls and Ace Hardware store. Is this a new 2008-09 thing or has this always been happening. Are companies bracing in case there is NO X-mas this year or maybe I just never paid attention. I know I've been seeing holidays get earlier and earlier for years but never remember September. What are you seeing around your parts. Which places. Is this just better for you, do you like to stock up? Another thing that I noticed is that I was able to get discounts on Halloween stuff a month ahead of time, so there is benefits. I have longer to showcase my decorations where before I did not even bother decorating because I didn't want to pay retail price for some of those things (I bought a halloween teddy bear that was 20$ and I got it for 9 dollars). wouldn't it be cool for you or not if we celebrated holidays longer?

I agree with you in that the holiday decorations seem to come out earlier and earlier, in our shops the decorations have been on sale for about two or more weeks. So they have both christmas and halloween on display it just makes me panic a bit more about finding the money for everything!

I think thats all part of their marketing because if they can get you to feel the urgency to buy these things sooner the more successful they are in profiting and I do believe stores are just trying to ensure their own sales profits because economist are predicting a sharp drop in buyers around December.

And I thought the last few years were bad because they put everything out right after halloween! September is too early. I haven't seen any displays yet, but I also haven't been out shopping since school started so that may be why. I do like to decorate early, but I think one holiday should pass before going on to the next one. I have my halloween/fall stuff up now and will switch to thanksgiving the day after. Then we have a family tradition of setting up the tree and all the decorations on the sunday after thanksgiving. As far as deals on decorations, I usually buy stuff at garage sales, etc all summer so I hardly ever buy full price holiday items.

yea, i was gonna ask you where you get your decorations. I had a friend in my hometown who loved garage sales and you actually get much nicer things then you'd expect. Im sure theirs some stuff Im looking for right now. I saw a ceramic of a Haunted House with a little witch, spiders and stuff all over it but even on a 50% off sales at Kohls it was 17.99. Ive gotten my Halloween decorations form Rite Aid (pharmacy store) and much more than just one haunted house, lol. The nice thing about garage sales is that you run into nice things because people just do not hav the room for it anymore or the need for it.

I was at Hobby Lobby with my daughter a few weeks ago and the had a few rows of Halloween stuff and probably twice that much of Christmas stuff along with about 6 or 7 decorated Christmas trees. I think stores used to wait until after Halloween to put out the Christmas stuff. Not anymore I guess. Easter stuff will probably be out the day after Christmas too.
