What do you think will happen if we were not colonized?

[i]Hi Janna, It has a great advantage as well as disadvantage and I believed if we are not colonized, we are still living with so much superstitions which even until not are being preserved by some people in some areas and I myself have those also..LOL! Totally different really, food, lifestyle, people, faces and attitudes and religion![/i]

Well maybe our country would be like that of Malaysia or Indonesia where their cultural heritage was mostly preserved because they were colonized in a very short time only and their colonizers didn't changed much of their culture. maybe we were a Islamic country rather than a predominantly Christian country. I could not say that the effects of us being colonized was all that bad. It did some good as well as bad. But what we have right now is okay now for who I am right now. If it had made some negative impact on what we are now then let it be and I am pretty sure we are evolving slowly to make our own unique identity in the future.

Whether we are better off or not, I just could not tell. But some things will be different - religion is one. We will not be a christian country if we were not colonized. western culture orientation - we will not be more inclined towards western culture if we were not colonized. call center may not be proliferating as what is happening now. Our educational system will be different. Our language will be different since a lot of our national language were derived from the foreign culture. We will be in a different environment - again, for better or for worse, we can not tell. Good day!

If we were not colonized Christianity won't be the primary religion, but Islam. The Philippines won't be an English speaking country. Our surnames won't be Spanish. Our form of government will be different. Some parts of the Archipelago won't be part of the Philippines and/or there could be another country. And a lot of things.. Happy posting!!
